The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I have always had an internal struggle over the same thing... Joss writing something makes it much better, in my mind, even if it was crap.

I think as a stand-alone movie AR is interesting... but I don't know how well I like it fitting with the others. A3 pisses me off as it was if someone decided to take a great idea and run it into the ground, literally. "Let's kill off all of the cool things from Aliens..."

So at least on this subject... I agree with your assessment, Adonis. =)

(Pardon for the de-rail... Nothing to see here... Move along... Move along... Back to your regularly scheduled introduction thread...)

Hi guys, my name is Anthony and I have been into Aliens since I was a kid. Through the enjoyment of the hobby, it’s taken me all over the world and introduced me to a number of people that I would never of met if it wasn’t for our combined love of the film. Plus, there’s nothing like the feeling of pulling a pulse rifle on some guy trying to attack you with his ‘Vulcan death grip.’

Hi I'm Paul, I'm currently 31 years old and my interest is in all Stan winston movies. I recently opened a tribute forum on Facebook and Myspace to honour the man who brought our dreams and nightmares to life. I am a member of the Hunters Lair and have built a full Predator costume. I also specialise in Sci Fi graphic design you can see my art @ http://paulelder.deviantart.com/gallery and my Predator page @ http://www.myspace.com/predatorpaul

I hope to make a colonial marine suit next and am really impressed with the site. I attended the Fleming Park, Eastleigh drop and met lots of you on here which was both inspiring and encouraging to my next build. Gareth AKA Abe your suit was mind blowing, look forward to working with you soon :D

Hey Paul. It was good to meet you.

I should have said to you explicitly at the weekend; but (if you didn't gather from Rich) the UKCM also covers Predator costuming. So, you and your beast will always be welcome at UKCM drops. Take a good look at the UKCM Noticeboard and the UKCM Events Calendar.

Anyway, look forward to meeting up with you again soon! And, if you want to get kitted out as a Marine; you've come to the right place!

'Ello all!

My name is Pete, I run an Alien/Predator/AVP fansite called Alien Experience. Started it back in 2001. Been interested in the Alien films since I saw Alien at age 9 (so that was 1986, making me 32 today) and Aliens not long after.

Mike (Thedus) pointed me in this direction so I figured I would sign up. I don't collect props but I have many of the Alien comics and novels. Also played the original Aliens vs. Predator on the PC.

I am, however, really interested in one of those fabulous engraved Alien Zippo lighters I've heard so much about!

I had a dart gun (the kind with a suction-cup end) when I was a kid that was an exact replica of a VP70. Lost it at some point in my childhood, unfortunately. It was great.

Anyway, I'll drop in as often as possible, as Harry knows it's tough to have a big presence in forums you don't mod. :)

Hey, Pete! Good to see you here.

I'm sure Willie and Harry will be thrilled to see you too.

And I think those dart guns are still in production. If they are what I think they are then Dom (Sgt Beaudoin) has (or had) some for sale. ...If you were interested. Although Spat's new VP-70's look sweet!

Good to see you on Legacy. :D

Thanks Mike!

Are you serious about those VP70 dart guns still in circulation?!

Man, that must have been... 18-20 years ago I had that.

Hi Pete- welcome to the Legacy!

Just curious what part of Ontario you are from? I'm in Hamilton myself (although I was born and raised in Toronto).

About the VP70 dart guns- they are actually scarce now. Seems they were a bit too realistic for the Canadian Government despite the brightly coloured plastic. Both those and the cap gun version by the same company (Imperial) have vanished from store shelves up here.

Hi Kevin!

Thanks for the welcome. I'm in Northern Ontario, Northeast of Timmins. Small town, ass end of nowhere. Yep, I'm the Fury 161 of Ontario. :D

See, that was the best part of my VP70 dart gun, it was before the government forced those ridiculous bright orange muzzles. Mine was literally a replica of the real deal. I think I left it in my tree fort one day and it was stolen... pretty sure I lost a bunch of toy guns that day. :(

Hey guys, I'm Jeremy.

I've been directed here from a friend, who is doing USCM for Otakon and Anime USA this year. I'm 18, and Aliens is easily my favorite movie. I may not have been fortunate enough to have been grown up when the Aliens movie came out, but I'm not too young to appreciate it!

While I personally haven't actually started my own USCM kit yet, I am in the process of paying for a Redwolf Airsoft Custom M41-A, for my airsoft usage and wall hanging goodness.

I look forward to posting more on these boards, and learning more about the USCM, the movie, and getting together someday for a gathering.

Hey folks. New guy reporting in. My name's actually Clint, so feel free to call me that, or my user name. I'm a graphic design student, sometimes gunsmith, and aspiring comic artist from Texas. I've been a fan of sci-fi, especially the first two Alien films, ever since I was a kid. I've been doing some Stormtrooper costuming for a couple of years now (not a 501st member, though), and hopefully will start work on my own Colonial Marine armor fairly soon. I'll be taking the long route, and will be making my own molds and vacuum-forming the parts. A former teacher, and good friend of mine has a Pulse Rifle (built from the real parts) that we will probably be basing the lighter-weight ones on.

Just saying hello...

I trolled the RPF for years collecting props and bits and that eventually led to me being in the 501st. I have a TK, Vader and Republic Commando. Outside of Star Wars I love the FireFly series and do a downright killer Jayne Cobb.

I have built a dozen or so costumes now some for the wife some for my son and now I have decided to try the USCM. Since I went to my first DragonCon several years back I've been wanting to do this gear.

I just acquired SWFreak's armor and Taz Vader's BDUs and I've started to acquire the parts for a PR build. I am familiar with building as I am also building an Astromech right now as an R2 Builder. I am hoping some of my learned skills there will apply as well the skills I picked up from prop making.

At any rate good to be hope to meet some new CM friends!

Welcome to our newest members!

Sam- you're going to enjoy your stay here! Although this is not a fast moving board, this is easily the friendliest place I've ever had the pleasure to be a part of on the internet. 8)
