The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

on mine, it's in the same place as changing the time, you just scroll through each one until you get to the 12/24 part

Make sure the watch is displaying time/calendar then hold the top right hand button down for 2 to 3 seconds. The watch should beep and the time will change from 24 to 12 hour.

It would be nice to have a copy(pdf?) of the actual manual though. :)

I've looked online at various places for these things, but without success. :?

I could scan the photocopied one I have and post it on here. Give me a few days though as I've got some 16-18 hour days coming up at work.

Because only Civvies ask what time it is.... and can only understand 12-hour times.

The rest of us already have watches

I wouldn't mind changing mine to military time, it would make it more "authentic".

I'd also like to know if there's a way to turn off the hourly "beep".

Unless someone beats me to it I'll post the instructions as soon as I can. Work is crazy at the moment so I might not get round to it for a couple of days though.

I was working on the Pulsemeter I received in the mail yesterday (about 75% finished re-doing it...nerve-wracking to have it all apart!, but now it's reassembled and getting its strap.) and I thought to ask some one I had seen with a metal one for sale if he would consider scanning the SEIKO Manual. I offered to pay him but he kindly sent the scanned pages in English to me just to be a good guy. Thank you DANNY!

If anyone would like a copy...Please PM me with your regular email if you would and I'll be happy to send it along to you.
If I wasn't such a TechnoMoron I would post it, but at least I have it.

What did you do to it that required taking it all apart?

Thanks!

Hey GREG - Mostly I was KANE-ishly curious, but it was also a little grubby, so I decided to take a chance and open the case. I thought maybe the side buttons could be removed and painted - as it happened only the squarish yellow 'Pulse' button/pad comes off (by loosening a small screw and very fine spring). So I basically cleaned it carefully with swabs and alcohol and tiny sable brush tips, peeked at the battery, cleaned the fine rubber o-ring thingie and reassembled it after putting the black-sprayed 'Pulse' button back on I wanted to 'rough up' the button surfaces so I used a very worn, fine grit emery board (the kind laminated on a white foamy, cusiony layer for manicures). After getting the backplate back on, I fought with the webbing strap-under-the-springbars concept and finally experimented with running a large needle, then finishing nail/brad through 1 row/ridge(?) of the nylon strap to open a little tunnel to run the springbar through...It's pretty much of an ordeal, but I thought the eventual owner could just pop one springbar loose to change the battery.

This one is the Yellow Button S229-5001 model and I decided to even drop some of the same black auto enamel into the tiny tiny 'ALARM CHRONOGRAPH' engraved lettering in the upper right corner to make it slightly more screen correct-ish by blocking out the white.
Now I need to know how long I should make the strap and where to place the velcro...and one last duty - I couldn't find a decent khaki color so I will mix some thin acrylic and remedy the teal green it is now and fire-fuse the cut ends.
My pulse seemed to stay around 66-68...except when I was thinking how horrible it would be to lose the teeny spring, and then it shot up like I had just seen the first chestburster at dinner  . I am still up from yesterday, so I hope any of this made sense. I must go into the old freezerino!

Adding image files isn't too complicated. I'll post a tutorial up if anyone needs it, I will check with the admin team first though in case we already have one somewhere in the archives.

I've posted a very quick & dirty scan of my instruction booklet in the archives here.
