It'd be nice if they could concentrate on finishing and releasing the current Aliens franchise game... |

http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/44687 ... es-Delayed New Aliens vs. Predator Announced; Aliens: Colonial Marines Delayed Feb 11, 2009 at 7:34 AM - Andrew Burnes - 19 Comments Original Aliens vs. Predator developer, Rebellion, doing all-new PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 instalment! However, the new title launches early 2010, before Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines, marking a significant delay for the co-op shooter: SEGA of America Inc., SEGA Europe Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising (Fox L&M) today reveals exciting new details of their increasing portfolio of upcoming games based on Twentieth Century Fox’s Aliens universe. SEGA will publish an all-new Aliens vs. Predator (working title) game in early 2010. The game is currently in development with independent developer Rebellion, creators of the original 1999 Aliens versus Predator; a legendary title that went on to define an entire generation of multiplayer gaming. With the opportunity to publish what promises to be a landmark game, SEGA has strategically updated the release of the other upcoming Aliens titles currently in development within its portfolio. “The innovative new AvP game presents an exciting opportunity for us,” says CEO of SEGA West, Naoya Tsurumi, “It represents a fantastic addition to our growing Aliens franchise and the reinvention of one of gaming’s most cherished iconic titles. By adjusting the release of our other Aliens titles to accommodate it, SEGA will ensure that every title lives up to the high expectations of Aliens and AvP fans.” “SEGA continues to create masterful games based on our Aliens franchise and this new addition is sure to continue their successful track record,” said Gary Rosenfeld, Senior Vice President, New Media for Fox L&M. Don't forget, Obsidian's unnamed, yet-to-be-revealed, Aliens RPG is also in development. Sadly we wont see A:CM for awhile... Derek |

I doubt much of the original Jaguar AvP team remain. I also doubt we will be seeing this any time soon. Rebellion have an awful lot on their plate at the moment, especially with one bigger franchise... |

RPG as in Tabletop, D20, paper and pencils time? Or something computery-oriented? I thought A:CM was due for release in March '09? You can pre-order it on Amazon for thirty of your English pounds.... |

Tell me about it, I've had it pre-ordered for months... And the RPG will be on the PC / consoles. I don't know if Obsidian do tabletop. That statement from Fox just screams 'we realised an AvP franchise game would have 'wider' appeal and make us more money' to me. |

However, Fox probably don't care so long as the money-maker keeps churning. I just hope they port all this stuff for PC. I don't want to have to keep buying the latest versions of consoles to play games.... How many are there now, 5? |

There's nothing wrong with that, as long as it's done well. Look how good the original Half-Life was, and to a lesser extent the sequels. I only had time for the original AvP; the second blew goats, far too 'cartoony' for my liking. Here's hoping the new game goes back to the style of the original... |

Which 'original' are you referring to? The Jaguar version or the first PC version? I hated the first pc version because of how insanely hard it was. Leave the APC... die. Stay in th APC... die. Run down the hall, shoot twice... die. Yeah, that was fun. I really enjoyed AvP2 however. Good story, interesting characters... now if only my game disk wasn't toast. Russ |

Original PC version, and it wasn't hard at all, you big pansy. AvP 2 was too easy, if anything, but I guess it's all relative. I play games at least two hours a day, usually much more, and have done since I was eight... |

Ah, I'm lucky any more if I get to play games 2 hours every couple weeks. Haven't played Steel battalion in a month and a half. Come to think of it... I actually didn't play the full version of the PC AVP1, just the demos. Maybe the difficulty was diffferent between the demo and the full version? I think the difficulty of the demo made me not buy it. I don't mind a little difficulty (AvP2 was pretty frantic at times I thought...) but the demos at least made me not buy the game. Sad, I know. The 1st AvP game was deffinatly harder, with more heart pounding terror moments, the 2nd was just Cartoonier nothing wrong with it but I wasn't in such suspense as with the original. beep....beeep....Beeep....BEEEEP. FIRE! Dead. Level Restart. |

Why doesn't this surprise me. The Alien "verse" is an untapped goldmine that, rather unfortunately, keeps getting put into the hands of people that have no idea of whats good, or are going backrupt so they put out a pile of poodoh or never put out anything at all. |

But you have to love Sega for the Dreamcast. Such a wonderful machine. Unfortunately the industry is doing a massive shift to the casual and shovelware market and big franchise games, and projects like this will get caught in the middle. |

Russ While I found the single player to be pretty hard, the 'skirmish' levels I found impossible. Not sure of the exact level names as I sold my copy when I emigrated I think those levels were more realistic AvP2 for the PC though.....A LOT of fun multi-playing on that one. As for A:CM.....I'd rather have it delayed than not at all. I just hope the delay isn't a delay that kicks into a new console rather than the current ones. |
