The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I am working on a Sulaco style patch for those of us in the Pacific Northwest and was planning on using USS TAHOMA. Tahoma is the Native American name for Mount Rainer.
Matt has come up with the artwork (below) Just waiting on pricing

You could just replace the Sulaco patch name and numbers....but it would look weird and.....everyone would know what it was.

To be honest I'd maybe use the same size, shape and maybe colors.....but go with an original design all together.

If you're making them....definately go for something new and original.

Be sure to send me a 200x200 image of it once its done for the Charter ;)

How many people ya got?

Unless you have quite a few, it costs a lot to make a patch.

Yup... It does cost, but someone here posted a site that isn't too bad and they do the set up too. I also want to check with Matt N. as e said he might be able to help. I have not done an interest post yet as I want to have a design and cost.

Design is all up to you really, Doc. I don't think anyone would object to just replacing name and numbers on the Sulaco patch (well, maybe lawyers, for copyright reasons and all, of course...), but unless people look close, they won't tell the difference and just assume it's the original Sulaco patch. Bit of a waste of effort...

If you have any talent, or know someone who does, design something yourself. It's a lot more fun, and more satisfying.
Here's what I cam up with:
Image
I came up with the general design myself, but I cannot draw a circle to save my life, and I'm even more useless with PC tools. Fortunately, my roomate at the time is a graphic designer, so he could help me out with that. From my starting scribbles and sketches, he came up with that.

After that I inquired here, and Dom directed me to Stadri Emblems (http://www.stadriemblems.com/). I had a run of 12 made, which is a bit pricey when you're the only one in your squad (sold a couple since, though), but hey. No biggie. :) And if there are several of you, the price is much more reasonable.

Here's the finished product:

Image

Now I'm looking for an artist to draw an Aerospace patch insignia. I'm still hoping to rope a friend of mine into coming to D-Con as a pilot for the USS Cyrano wing. She'd look good in a flight suit.

Oh, and as for the numbers... To be honest, I'm a bit confused as to how many regiments there are in the Corps, and how many Battalions in each of those. So I just picked something from the early numbers, which wouldn't risk going over the actual order of battle for the USCM, and that hadn't been used by anyone else I knew of yet. 4th Battalion cause that's my lucky number. 8)

Ironically, a United Western Colonial Marines patch was already designed...

Image

For the UAS Macdonald patch, the Sulaco patch design was helpful but obviously modified to suit our needs.

If you're looking for a patch maker, I use http://www.stadriemblems.com Good prices, great quality and minimum order of only 12.

I was thinking a ship(U.S.S. Tahoma) patch with Brigade/Regiment numbers too... I thinking about something that incorporates the Delta...
Is the Charter broken up in regions? How many regiments are in a brigade?
I have looked at the ones on the charter to see what is out there.
These guys do the artwork/set-up as part of the cost of the patch

I may be able to help.

Not sure what you are thinking, but I like how the

Maryland guys did there's.

Maybe change the blue color, add the ship+ reg numbers with
a custom flag...

Matt...

That would be great... I would have to come up with the custome flag.. I would also like to know if you could thin the black band just inside the outside edge.. Then at the bottom put in ANY TIME ANY WHERE I'm thinking about keeping the blue.. And maybe do a OD patch too. Depending on cost.

Here you go doc. Still rough.

I don't have the USS sulaco font on my computer. My wife
did the sulaco patches for me. I only did the delta and eagles....

Colors don't matter with the price.

I think instead of the pine tree (cliche for the PNW) you should actually have Mt Rainier (Tahoma) in the background. You could probably leave out the bar with "Colonial Marines" since you already have USCM (If you're in the organization you don't need it explained, and if you're not you don't need the patch to be self-explanatory) This would leave more area to see the image.
Oh, and BTW, I'm in Tukwila (half a block from the seattle border)

Wooo Hoooo
Another Northwest Marine. (Going to Norwes con?? )

I agree.. Since these will be the same size as the Sulaco patch it could be used with the Calonial Marine rocker...
