A theory...

In basic training, Colonial Marines are subject to many types of survival tests...one is to create a Hacking tool with whatever electronics they can get from parts and pieces readily available to them. Hudson's pouch looks like a "hack" job..no pun intended...so I decided that I would attempt my own version....So, out of pure boredom and the anticipation of a package from Matsuo, heres my Hack Tool...

BTW..its not finished yet...

I certainly hope not.

Just kidding Bro! It looks great! The tri-fold pouch is a step above the one I made myself- the spanner set looks good too!

I have a pic (one of Dan's- Aliensarchive) of the screenused hacking tool if you'd like to see it for reference.

EDIT- actually comparing yours to the screenused one I'd say you already have that pic... Yours looks pretty damn close Bro! Right down to the yellow checkered pattern along the edges! :D

Thanks!!

Guess I'll start collecting cards and boards out of the crap we get rid of. we toss out tons.

I can tell what some of the stuff is, but anyone knocked it all out?

The black and yellow lines, are they painted or somethign attached?

Thanks again everyone

Also, is the pouch leather or canvas?

Author:  Cpl Smith [ Thu Jul 24, 2008 3:16 pm ]
Post subject:

Ive seen a screen cap where the pouch LOOKS leather...but this one looks like canvas...look at the edges of the Propstore pic...it has the edging around it...where this next pic doesnt...maybe there were two..one hero and one stunt.

and if you look at the edges of the yellow square strips, they look like separate pieces attached....To me, the pieces that the parts are attached to look like thin card board...I used thin styrene for mine...more durable.

OK, off the top of my head...
Left to right
Section 1 :
I can see the small screw driver set, can’t make out the smaller parts

Section 2:
Some ribbon cable, some kind of keyboard (light up in the movie?)
Circuit board, red wiring board, alligator clips

Section 3:
Can’t see what’s at the top, but looks like ear phones, some banana plugs, maybe coax cable ends or stereo jacks

I'm sure you guys can do better, since you can find Megatron in a headset

It's a spanner set on the left- I thought it was a prescision screwdriver set at first too. And various computer guts, alligator clips, plugs, leads, etc.

The toughest part to nail down is the button box. It isn't calculator buttons, and is too small to be set of phone buttons. The best guess we could come up with is that it is from an old "tone dialer".

Something like this would be used if you still had a rotary dial or pulse only telephone (this was the 1980s after all).

Section 1..those arent screw drivers..they are spanners...and the straight ones are little nut drivers..the red thing is a small push button of some sort. The other two pieces are hard to make out..

Section 2..you pretty much nailed..

Section 3...the top piece is the display window from some model of calculator...the pieces on the side of that are hard to make out...of course you can see the head phones....and the bottom pieces look to be two female style of connector....

I guess this piece will be our next challenge, since were done with the DS helmet.. :D

Derek

Edit...Kev beat me to the Section 1 part..(go to work Kevin!!!)

I don't start until 1pm today. 8)

Here's another pic of a tone dialer that looks closer to the screenused one (if in fact that is what it is):

Sorry for the poor quality- the original pic was 95 pixels high. :(

From what I remember of the last thread on this, the head phones in the pouch were the ones that originally came with the Seiko pulsemeter.

When I won my Seiko on eBay, it came with the head phones. I then threw them away thinking I wouldn't need them. :(

You got 'em? Lucky dog!

We should get a set to Spat and ask if he would mold and cast copies.
