The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Post subject: Question About SU Armor And Helmets

This question might have been asked and answered before, but I could not find anything in old posts...

How many original SU armor sets [complete or incomplete] and helmets have been accounted for?

This question might be up Harry's alley.

Terry English has said in the past that he made three sets for each performer, but I remember one UK dealer who also claimed to have a "Kevlar" set which was used for stunts. I don't think this set has ever been seen though so I'm not sure it can officially be added to the total.

They're all in Harry's secret basement. He only shows us the Hudson armour so we won't hate him too much.

Seriously- I'd like to know what happened to the Hicks armour as well.

I don't own Dietrich's armour Nick, where did you find that info from out of interest?

In terms of where all the sets are now, not all collectors are as forthcoming as others in letting people know what they have. It's common knowledge (i.e. on his website) that a set of Apone and Crowe armour are owned by Aliensarchive. I believe a set of Apone armour is in the Propstore private collection and I've seen a Frost set too which they used to own. I have seen a few other sets including a Hicks but unfortunately I'm sworn to secrecy as to who owns it I'm afraid.

One interesting bit of info is that I was speaking to an Aliens crew member a while back and he told me that while he was working on the production he saw a skip containing several props etc. that had been thrown away; including at least one set of armour. He managed to salvage a helmet from the skip - of course in hindsight he wished he'd taken the lot! :)

OMFG!!!!!!

I'd never heard that before, hindsight, I wish I had shares in hindsight!

I'd heard that some of the Thunderbirds models were also rescued from a skip as well.

Such a waste!

whoops sorry Harry, i got the impression from your site that you owned it, but looking again i can clearly see it says "This costume is not part of the Harry Harris collection".

maybe time for an eye exam :)

Wasnt soemone selling fiberglass recasted versions of the dietrich armor? I remember hearing about it and how it was undersized since dietrich had a smaller frame.

dietrich's armour was indeed smaller than the male sets. yes there are fibergalss copies made from a dietrich set around. i do believe the armour the marines wore at alien war were all cast from a dietrich set which is why they looked a bit small on the guys :)

The 3 per character doesn't quite work out since there are 4 confirmed Hudson's...although it is possible that one could be a re-conditioned set from another character.

Of the hypothetical 21 sets total I've seen (in pictures) at least 12, they are all in various states of completeness.
