Looks like a Tang Sight to me...

Boy, they really made that that facehugger's uhh... orifice look like... well, you know.

Hard to tell what kind of sight that is from these pics. At a glance, it looks to be like a fold up ladder sight for a grenade launcher, like those found on the M16 with M203, or a Yugo AK47 or SKS.

I can;t wait to see what it really is in the end. The tech manual mentions a tangent sight, but the PR shroud looks like it would be much more suited to an M16A1 style rear aperture and front post in the groove.

With the supposed muzzle velocity of the 10mm caseless ... A1 sights would make the most sense. Hopefully if the weapons animations and model are high enough quality, we'll have some more to look at. Sights on the rifle would be VERY nice, and allow players to shut off the cross hair for a richer gaming experience.

I'm sure that in game terms, when you switch weapons to use the grenade launcher, the view changes to one in which the grenade launcher sight is up, and the game lets you use that to aim the grenades.

It's just the game's way of making it easier for you to aim the grenades, no big mystery there.
