The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Beat me to it. ;)

There's been a lot of Chinese knock-off versions of popular airsoft gun brands popping up lately - Chinese off-brand company makes a nice-looking replica of someone else's product with half the durability for half the price, you know the type. Someone posted a link a while ago to a news article about a new all-metal MG34 clone from one of those Chinese brands that looks like it might make a great smartgun base. Might be worth doing some research on!

Yeah,
I know all about the Chinese clones, I work on airsoft guns as a side-job, we've been using clone bodies with stock internals and its been working fine.

I built my current smartgun to work with the CYMA internal gearbox.

The sandtroopers tend to carry either MG-34's, Lewis Guns, Sterlings and occasionally you will see MG-19's. MG-42's, not at all...

I bought one of those kits a couple years ago and turned it into an MG-34 for my Sandtrooper rifle. It's an awesome kit and would be a MUCH better base gun body than the resin Smartgun turds I've seen pop up. It's made of strong but light plastic, if it can take the recoil of a gun it must be strong!. Great price for it!

Well a 10/22 doesn't put out any recoil worth mentioning, but I see your point. I'm sure it's strong enough for most people's needs.

I have one of those kits, and it works fairly well for a novelty. The sights are terrible for any kind of accurate shooting. But, it is FUN to hose tin cans out of a 30 round magazine and using a Harris bipod.

It would probably be closer to a 3/4ths scale MG42 than anything. Might make a good base though - if you want a smaller smart gun. The plastic is light, and the detailing is fair. The barrel shroud and receiver separate, as well as the flash suppressor/muzzle booster.

If anyone wants pictures, I can probably snap a few.

Thought I do everyone a favor and rectify an internet rumor which got their starts on Airsoft forums than appeared to have made it to prop collectors communities.

Firstly, the supposed China-made MG34 was already proven a hoax, the result of someone posting a picture of a real firearm then calling it a prototype Airsoft from China. So, there's no MG34 for 1/2 price coming out of China. Secondly, the purported MG42 pictures posted were simply those of a Japan made MG3. It has a hefty cost and the motor is located in the wrong place for purposes here. So, again there is no MG42 being made in China for 1/2 price. And if it were half price that would mean it would cost about 1200 dollars. You can hold out hopes but you'd be waiting for a ship that may never come and if and when it comes its about double the cost you would consider cheap. Hope that clears it up and stop the flow of rumor to these parts. ;)
