Post subject:  An anouncement to one and all....

Realizing that a good chunk of my posts were the equivalent of drunken verbal vomit yesterday on this board and also on Dom's advise I would like to offer a personal and very humble apology. How I got off on that I don't know. I have picked up this somewhat disturbing habit since Chris passed, and other recipients of my bile were Glenn Beck because he couldnt stop bitching about his hemmorrhoids the week Chris went into ICU and Lance Hendrickson and Bill Paxton's agents were bombarded with a few (though I think they deserved it they were asses) becuse they would not pass on a simple message about chris passing away.Nobody on this board deserved it. It is not my intention to go to Atlanta and get my ass kicked by one and all. This is truly not me.

Once again sincere and humble apologies

Scott

Scott-

It's cool man.

This has been a devastating thing to go through- there are times over the last few weeks that I have become truly angry myself. I have Dom's armband picture of Chris sitting on my desk beneath my monitor. Sometimes I cannot look at it.

Anyway you don't have to worry about us kicking your ass at D-Con; you're part of the Brotherhood. :)

I went a tad off the deep end in an email to Kevin when Chris passed away.
You were grieving, I think we could see that.

Shoot we all have bad posts that make half a forum hate us.

True. Why just yesterday I crashed an entire forum when I made an off hand comment about Oprah's hair-do.

I'm still reeling over it.

oh it's done. I do have a message from Joy. We spent a whole lot of nothing time this evening and I do have her permission to relay to you why the service was so abrupt after chris passed.

It was not a matter of his or her wish for immediate cremation, It is a matter of either state or local law. A person cannot be kept unembalmed for more than 24 hours, and must be kept in a proper state until the funeral. A viewing was allowed for no more than 10 people (once again by law) and they are supposed to be family only. The mortician bent the rules a little there which explains the brevity of the service. If an inspector walks in and found more or found we were not immediate family they could have lost their license. Matter of immediate finances, folks and the law. She wanted to have it all proper and have everybody there and with the emotional situation as it was it was a matter of the law and money since it may have taken a week or more to get everyone together.

Under the circumstances it is a proper decision and not for me to pass judgement. As much I wish that as many of you could have made it , I was still honored to represent you best I could. Pass it on as you will you have permission.

Type sober the ass you save may be your own.....

Also to add to the stress ( and fortunately it has come out for the best) she has been facing a potential layoff from sharper image and just found out her store is NOT CLOSING!! :D (happiness here guys trust me that has been my main stress issue and endevoured to not cause her stress thru my stress). So yes there was drinking tonight at her place a midweek celebration but trust me sober enough to type. Had to drive home after all.

And yes I know more than 3 posts in a row but they arent rambling in a relatively good mood it's been a while. Joy was pretty happy tonight.

Well I ma glad to hear something is going her way and that you are helping as best you can.

Those seem to me some strange rules reguarding Chris's funeral, but they are what they are.

Thanks for relaying Joy's message and please let her know we are ALL pulling for her.

Author:  enzo [ Wed Mar 05, 2008 5:35 pm ]
Post subject:

oh she knows everybody is pulling for her for sure. I guess the 30 minute rule is because the body is basically (and forgive me for choice of words) not embalmed and is effectively considered the equivalent of a biohazard.

I think this law came into effect a few years ago there was some nutty swede here in colorado who was keeping a relative in his shed packed in dry ice hoping science would bring him or her back in the future. Went to court, he won because there was no law on the books. Now there is one.

Author:  Dropshipbob [ Wed Mar 05, 2008 5:41 pm ]
Post subject:

Yeah, I can understand that. Makes me wonder about my own...funeral. I don't much like the idea of being embalmed. I know what it entails, not something I want my body to be subjected too.

Author:  enzo [ Wed Mar 05, 2008 6:01 pm ]
Post subject:

Well I thought about donating my body to science. There is a place here in town you can do that. Changed my mind real quick on that. Cremation for me.

Author:  SGM Baldwin [ Wed Mar 05, 2008 6:47 pm ]
Post subject:

Wow... not your fault for the choice of words... but to hear that a friend became a biohazard... doesn't sit well with me.

As for the beautiful corpse I shall one day leave behind, I will donate it to science-fiction.

Post subject:

yeah that's what bugged me a lot too friend to biohazard. I really did want to ask her why so fast a while back but considered it none of my business. She volunteered it last night. Reading my mind I guess.

I'm going to donate my body to Miskatonic University. Does Dr Herbert West still work there?

I'd like a viking funeral. Burn my body in a ship set to sea.

The options they have these days just seem kinda cold and impersonable.
