I'd like to invite all of you to an all new convention coming to Belgium on April 26-27th. Hypercon:

There's possibility for official participation. Normally, an official e-mail should have been received by now.

My club, the Belgian Costume Division vzw (of which the Belgian 501st Garrison is a part), has been asked to assist with the organisation. We were reluctant at first, because this would mean a lot of dedicated time, but the idea behind the convention is genrally the same attitude I find on this board. No elite behaviour, no favoritism, just an atmosphere where everybody can enjoy him- or herself. That's why an open invitation has been sent to all Belgian fanclubs we know, and a whole bunch of clubs we know internationally, including àll 501st Garrisons and Outposts, à Rebel Legion bases and of course, the US and UK Colonial Marines.

We hope to have a positive response from as many places a s possible, but as far as Europe goes, we'd love to have strong participation.

Hypercon is working together with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. For this first edition, they want to heavily promote "Stargate: the Ark of Truth", as it is released here in the week before Hypercon. As such, we are working on getting our Stargate up and running as it has been requested as a centerpiece on the convention. So, anyone who wishes to see a big Stargate working Stargate replica, mark that weekend in your agenda. It also means Fox is trying to get big Stargate-guests over here, which hasn't been done before in Belgium.

Chances are there will be a more "Aliens/Predator"-themed edition later on, but that of course depends on the outcome of this first edition. If it is succesful, there will most definately be follow-up editions. Still, that doesn't mean Colonial Marines and bugs won't fit in.

Hypercon is also working on deals with hotels, to reserve rooms for official cosplayers, who'll also get free access to the venue and a separate dressing room on the cenvention itself.

Unfortunately, the webmaster has suffered a hard disc crash a few days ago, so there's not much to see on the site for now. Should be solved in a matter of days.

Therefore, I hope to see a LOT of you folks in Belgium!
