The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

So I have nothing but time on my hands so............. I decided to get a new set of boots as my others were left out in the rain and the leather just cracked. So being the nit picker I am, wanted to get the most authentic ones I could find. Here is what I 'know' Vietnam era OD green jungle boots. I confirmed this by looking at my own reference pics. The sole is the question. Most of the boots sold now have what is called a 'Panama' sole. Big block teeth tread. Something didn't look right so I did some digging. Apparently true Vietnam era boots have a sole made by Vibram and are about half the thickness as the 'Panama' sole and smaller tread pattern. All is fine until I double check Harrys site and there is a screen used pic of the boots with a Vibram sole but he has it listed as a 'Panama' sole.

BTW, I know this is way down the rabbit hole. I am enjoying bed rest on Vicodin after spine surgery:)

When Hicks tries to kick in the floor grate, you can clearly

see the vibram sole.

Altama had the sahara sole ones on clearance for awhile.

vibram is a sole maker for combat boots. The panama cut is made by vibram and others.

make sure the horizontal stich along side the boot and the instep stitch meet flush with one another near the toe of the boot. The ones that overlap each other are cheap knockoffs.
