The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Im trying to put together a sixthscale custom figure of those uber-cool Company Commandos as seen at the end of Alien 3 and Id appreciate any reference material or nuggets of information you may have on these guys.

Im pretty well covered for reference shots of the helmet, what im really interested in is details of the soft parts worn by them.

I came across a thread here which identified the prison jackets as N-2B type jackets and looking at the collar area of the commandos, they look similar, jsut with that thick padded material added on top. What do you guys think??

The leg and shoulder padding looks like it was specificaly made though it shouldnt be very hard to replciate if I can find a good seamtress.

Thanks :)

I know for sure ONEYE started a thread on this topic with screen caps, but I can't find it. May have even been on another board.

thanks for the screencaps ONEYE, appreciate it.

infromation on these guys seems very scarce, searches on google etc return very little. I have found a couple of interesting threads here, one which identifies the pants as A11 bomber crews flight pants.

Scratchbuiding the helmet will be my first goal anyway because it will be a bitch to do and wihtout a nice helmet the whole project is pointless. Does anyone here own a TE replica and maybe could provide some basic dimensions??

Thanks.

There is a guy who goes by the name Griefboy, I think he has a TE A3 helmet. Haven't seen him here but he does visit the RPF.

No problem. I did my best to capture as many views as possible to get a good look at the uniform. There is someone that is working on making a custom of this. I'm not sure of the scale though. 1:6 or 1:12?

Not that I've paid a lot of attention to Todd McFarlane, but the winter versions of McFarlane's military figures if you are trying for 1:12. Hot Toys will probably have much more uniforms to try if you are going for 1:6.

If I can get the helmet and the protecitve padding looking good then I hope I can get away with just using a generic flightsuit and jacket, as long as its off-white of course.

Ive started making a vector format template of the helmet, then I'l make a cardboard mockup. One version I printed out measures just under 7cm at sixthscale from the top of the helmet to the bottom of the face-guard and it looks a pretty good size.

Its amazing how eggshaped the helmet is, Im really not sure where to start lol I was thinking of trying to find a warsaw-pact helmet, cut down to use as a base since I remember they were an unusual shape.

Or how about an egg as the base? One of those plastic easter eggs.

Oh, and how is that sentry gun coming along?

I abandonded scratchbuilding my own sentry gun a while back but only because I got together with some other collectors on anther forum to try put together a resin kit of the gun which will trun out to be much nicer. There have been lots of delays though so its still in the early stages. Feel free to PM me if you want more info.

About the commando helmet, yeah I am keeping my eye out for anything egg shaped, in the right size that I might come across.

youre right, i never noticed how egg shaped they are until you said. i think one of those eggs that you get the little naff plastic toys inside might work. theyre in those bubblegum machines that you put a coin in and twist the knob. you know what im on about?

The base for the helmets, according to Terry, is a cylcing helmet of some type.

Cheers

Darren, do you have any pics of the back of the helmet you could possibly share?

I have made a rough cardboard mockup of the helmet and Im trying to reshape a 1/6 M1 helmet into the egg shaped dome section, Im lacking reference of the back of the helmet though.

I did find this old thread too which has some info

http://forum.alienslegacy.com/viewtopic ... ock+troops

but someof the links to pics and other info seem to be dead or require login. Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

Ah, well found! I was wondering where the hell that had gone!

That thread was going quite well. We had just gotten on to the boots. It'd be nice to pick it up again.

Thanks for the perfect pic Griefboy, thats exactly what I was looking for :)

I've bought a sixthscale N-2B jacket and I'm currently searching for a pair of A-11 flight trousers too but I dont know if those have ever been made in sixthscale. I have found a nice pair of white winter trousers that look good so I might use them as an alternative.

Yeah WDI It took a while before I stumbled across that other thread, some nice info in there, shame some of the links dont work any more though, the more reference material I have the better.

For the most part however Im going to have to approximate and guess alot of the little detials but if I can get the helmet to look good I wont mind.
