The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

You may need to e-mail him since his website appears to be updating and I don't see it listed.

FYI the link above is an affiliate link so if you do purchase, please use it ;)

I believe the MT kits sold here don't have the right display: it's not based on the Hama slide viewer, but something else that's much larger and bulkier. It's an easy fix, if you can get your hands on a real Hama slide viewer.

Also these kits are hollow - they're not solid (just as an FYI in case that makes a difference to you).

Otherwise, they're decent kits. :)

I believe FNG (rest his soul) had this same kit and he seemed to like it well enough. He too had a problem with the viewer but switched it out for the correct slide viewer.

Chris found that his kit was very thin in some places on the main body- it actually cracked and he had to repair it. He told me that he filled his with expanding foam to give it some strength.

I purchased one a few years back (Thanks, Tony ;) )... and the kit is in a state of flux and the moment ...and I need to get back to it.

Thanks, Kevin for mentioning the expanding foam. Good call. :) Chris and I had a conversation about that very subject shortly after I purchased the kit. The viewer that came with the kit cracked and broke shortly after opening the box because the resin was thin along the front. He also suggested pouring resin into the model and then "swirling" it around slowly to let it coat the inside surfaces to help add strength to some of the thinner spots. Personally, I just went for the expanding foam (since I already had some handy).

Overall, it's a good kit. It even comes with a small resin stand and base for display

I wound up with Chris's kit. Even though in the eBay auction he showed a pic of the "crack" I never saw it really. The foam made it nice and sturdy... I thought it was made out of resin.

Speaking of which... Nick have you received it yet?

hey yes i did recieve it. i could have sworn i sent you a message letting you know but a quick check of my sent mail shows i did not. very sorry about that.

just as i stepped in my door after work tonight i was greated with a box containing a real hama slide viewer, jobo lite, the flash gun, shutter release timer, shutter remote release and the rectangle box thingy.

its sitting on my "to do" shelf right now. i didnt realise this was owned by chris. Will now restore it to the best of my ability in honour of chris.

watch this space marines! (no that wasnt a 40k reference :) )

Please post pisc of what it looks like now so we can compare with your upgrades.

And may I say, you've gone so far as to get all those parts, you should go ahead and get the real drill if you can find one. Sounds like the only thing you are missing are the Matchbox power converter box and the pump widget. In for a penny, in for a pound, eh? 8)

i did have the opertunity to purchase the drill along with the other parts i got but i wanted this project to be just a fixer-upper. also money was a factor in what i could and could not get.
I wanted to keep the main drill body of the kit and just add as many "real" parts as i could. that way it would still be a farly easy job to do but at the same time really improve the look of the tracker. here is a picture of how it looks untouched (apart from a teeny bit of sanding)...

and tonight i have dismantled the flashgun and cleaned up the parts i needed from that. i cant dive right into this projecct fully at the moment due to lots of work for clients etc but will keep you all updated when i do. :)

I can understand that! :) Those drills aren't cheap, even when NOT bidding against other prop builders on the bay.

What happened to your keyboard graphic, do you need that too?

yeah i will need to get the keypad at some point. does anyone have one or a nice print out i could buy? also need a high quality picture of the tracker screen to put into the hama viewer from someone.

well i have been working on my tracker little by little at night after i have done all my other stuff (personal projects come last right now :( ) and so far have assembeld the screen with all the flashgun parts, sliced off the old resin minilite and screwed on my real one, sliced off the self timer but still not worked out how i will add the real one. few other bits such as stripping the main body down etc. no pics yet as my computer is playing up.

actually i best say this now, if im not around for a little while it's because my computer is on its last legs. might have to get a new laptop this week :(

I *might* be able to help you on both of those. Let me check my files.
