The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I guess there's been a few decent-sized Sulaco scratch builds over time, but is there anything available other than the Halcyon kit?

We're pretty short-changed in the Sulaco department, don't you think?...

OH yes a large scale Sulaco please!!! a few years ago when i was still ran my model busniess , i was going to produce a series of large scale alien related kits, the sulaco was going to be first, but after producing a large scale mk2 viper from Battlestar galactica, and seeing how badly it sold.. plus the cost of getting a master made i decided against it... it is also why i never finished my large scale APC... i mean who wants a 36 " long APC
wish i had done the sulaco first....

AKAIK the only commercially available Sulaco model is the Halcyon one which I think has been re-released under 2 different company names now.

The biggest Sulaco I saw was at the Aliens convention in 1991 I think it was. IIRC it was about 4 foot long, which was pretty impressive. I have a photo somewhere but not on my computer. That was back in the days of 35mm.

A large scale Sulaco would be great if anyone wants to take that project on :)

I had one of the SMT Dropships a while back which was about 24 inches long I think. Not sure what scale it was in. Was very nice but I sold it only to then order another one, which after a year never turned up :( and I eventually got refunded

There's been a lot of talk about one over at the RPF but nothing concrete yet.

I'm well up for a comission build (3ft)... ;)

Shipping could get a bit steep if it came from someone here in the U.S.

Hey all. Ive been lurking for a while. I am active on some of the other Aliens forums. I just recently found this one. Good to see Eagle is here. It wouldn't be an Aliens forum with him. Cheers Eagle!

As far as a large scale Sulaco model, I would be all over that. That is one ship that has had little to no representation in the collectible marked (except Halcyon).

I large, highly detailed, pre-painted model of the Sulaco is high on my list of wants.

I remember a copy of a large Sulaco showing up on eBay, but I *think* it was a copy from a fanbuilt scratchbuilt. And further more, it was pretty rough, needed a lot of detail added. Haven't seen one of them in years.

I have a resin garage kit of the Sulaco that I bought many years ago from Comet Miniatures in London.

It's by a maker called BCI. It's white resin and when assembled would probably be about 24" long. There's a big bag of detail parts too which I didn't include in the photos.

I put a copy of the Alien Encounters DVD next to it to give an idea of scale.

The one I remember was made by a Dutch guy, but never finished. Its proportions weren't anywhere near accurate and he had only built the main hull section. No wings, no guns and I think it didn't have the antennas at the front either. He put it on E-bay, but I don't know where it ended up, íf it even got sold.

Harry, I've just checked the Comet Miniatures site and it appears that they no longer offer that particular model. :( It would make for an excellent artistic study. Yunno,... for anyone that would like to size up a project of this scale.

If I am not mistaken, many mould masters of kits like the halcyon sulaco are / were pantographed from a much larger prototype and scaled down. The Halcyon 1:72 Dropship was created in this fashion and someone managed to locate it's momma a few years ago. (Just thinking out loud here.)

I've got an old CineFX that features the ALIENS production. There is a picture of the studio scale Sulaco with one of the techs working on her. It was an extremely impressive piece even before it found its way to Bob Burns' basement. :D

Gary swore blind that the ship they had was screen-used.
I was sure it wasn't, but didn't wanna argue the point after getting pwn'd in not realising the Aliens aliens only had 5 fingers :|

I remember this too. I seem to recall it was made out of card stock or some such and it was only partially finished.
