The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Should be part of the stephen210 kit.

Those pieces were cast together with the end of the braided hose part.

The black pieces in my pict are 3D printed.

They do but they have the end of the valve cast into them. I wanted to use real pump adaptors so need the hollow versions.

Hope that makes sense.

This is one of the greatest build threads ever. If I still had a helmet, all this info would be extremely helpful. Alas, I sold mine to LDR. I will be watching this closely to see how it turns out, though. I'm glad it went to someone who appreciates it.

Ive started marking and cutting out the ear hole sections on my SPH.

However, I'm not sure what ive managed to do!

The hole for the left side seems correct, but i've had to remove to much material around the mic screw hole area, to fit the greeble in place.

As you can see from the pics, i need more material around the mic (see red circle)...but the rest of it seems to be in the right position.

I cant move the hole back further as its in the right position in regards to the back lower screw. But adding more material to the mic sectiom, to match the screen used one, would mean the greeblies wont fit in.

Any suggestions?

Thanks i was using those and the screen used images.

I still cant figure it out, as the i was using the lower back screw and the two top back screws, and the position to those seems fine.

Yet i had to remove more material from the front mic area, to fit the greeblies in.

It is possible that the size of the helmet may be having an effect here. If the helmet is a smaller size than the screen used or the one Matt used, it stands to reason that things may not line up exactly the same.

Edit: The Revell Tabor/Imai Orguss looks similar but is a differnd kit!

Sorry to question this, but are these parts definately from the ARII Orguss Variable Drifand?

Heres a pic of the front cover....and it seems to have the Trigon part only....am i looking at the wrong model??

You need one of these kits for the parts.

Thomas is right.
The Arii 1/48 scale Orguss Variable Fighter is the same kit as the Revell Robotech Tabor.
There might be a bit confusion because the box of the Ariii kit says "Orguss Variable Fighter" on the top but "Orguss Variable Drifand" at the sides!
It is also not to be confused with the "Drifand Dal" which is the same kit as the Trigon.
To make things worse there is the Imai 1/40 scale Orguss / Revell Robotech Nebo kit which looks very similar to the Arii kit but has the wrong scale/parts!

See also here.

Cheers,
Stefan

Thanks Stefan, it is very confusing! especially when you cant see the parts inside the boxes.

Just one thing, on your post you wrote:

'Edit: The Revell Tabor/Imai Orguss looks similar but is a differnd kit!'

So I presume from your last post, the Tabor is actually correct?

Man...has anyone got any leads on a Tabor or Variable fighter?

I can find the Nebo no problems, and even the Imai 1/40 scale Orguss.

Just found an old listing for the Tabor which ended 1st Dec....dunno how i missed it! :(

Yep, that kit is quite hard to come by. Sorry, but you probably need patience. :\

As for patience - there are still a few part unidentified. I just got my hand on an old Revell catalog. Aside from the Robotech series Revell had a second, more toylike mech series called "Diaclone". Maybe some of the missing parts (the part inside the Megatron scope for example) are from that series.

Cheers,
Stefan

It would be great if someone would have a chance to get a look into this kit:

That's one of the few Harley kits in 1:12 scale I haven't been able to check.

Stefan

Finally got my Axoid and Tabor models, yay!

Anyway, what have people used for the centre of the Megatron part?

Below I've attached a pic.

Part 1 I've used the end of a the gun from the axoid, which seems to be right...just cut down a bit.

Part 2...i'm not sure about. I was looking at the barrel from a Destroid Tomahawk, which has rings on it. Or even a Destroid Defender (check out the barrel rings again):

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k198/ ... an0004.jpg
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k198/ ... an0004.jpg

part 3. Looks like a plastruct motor (as already used), but with some sculpting added and a hole drilled in it. And then another 'ring' model part added to the top. Again these rings are found in the axoid and tabor. Where the hole is it looks like the green is showing through.

Though these parts may not be right, they are very close.

So, basically...what did people use for part 2? Or did you re-sculpt this?

Any help would be great!

thanks!

lewis

So with the 3d file, would you then give this to a company to get this part made?

What format is the file?

I wonder if this part is a transformer weapon.

To me it could be an upside down part. On alot of the weapons the backs are hollow, which would explain why the rings stop on part 2, and are present on the other side. The bigger hole looks like it might connect onto whatever transformer held it

Looking at this site theres some very close shapes, however i have no idea of the sizes:

http://www.transformerland.com/show_par ... &toyid=326

http://www.transformerland.com/show_par ... &toyid=149

http://www.transformerland.com/show_par ... &toyid=360

All these weapons seem to have parts seen in the prop.

Just need to find the weapon with ALL the parts!

My SPH-4 came with a new slightly different microphone to the one used on the screen prop.

After searching ebay, i managed to get one exactly the same with the rivet part further to the right. This one even seems to be the right colour.

Looking at the prop it appears the mic underneath the brown is a bluish/green.

Here is a pic, top is the prop, bottom is off ebay:
