The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

True enough it would be logical that we wouldn't hear it

Also true enough that the 'F' key doesn't cause the sentry guns to fire indiscriminately though, so I wouldn't worry!

Do we have an alternative for this as flash is now debrecated. Due to the age or some other versioning issue I have to ask is the swf file adobe flash, or shockwave flash?

I was wondering about this the other day as it happens... I think I saved the file a while back but have no idea where it is

It is linked here in the thread available for download. I can't tell you how much digging it takes to find that thread... I may try to fire up my adobe cs suite and see if I have an option to save it as html5. I have spent the equivalent to several weekends trying to get flash to work on the new raspberry pi os. Whatever functions it had are fairly old and somewhat deprecated I suspect.

In most IT departments many are flustered with the forced deprecation of flash as too many sites and utilities use it exclusively as for its time it did what it did well and was somewhat easy to work with programmatically which was its big weakness, security holes...

I will need the source files to have any hope of converting things. I am not having any luck.

I think the flash can be replaced with a pygame equivalent python script. The terminal program is retro enough that the retro capabilities of pygame are fully capable of replicating the setup.

I agree, you should in theory be able to create something that is fully interactive as well.

Here it is as an executable:
rename the .swf to .exe. It would not upload otherwise.

sentrygun1.swf [4.08 MiB]
Downloaded 81 times

sothink.com sells a flash decompiler but you have to pay 80 for the license.

As an FYI. Flash is now out of official support. Raspberry Pi does not support it, tried for 100+ hours with no success. Linux appears to support it. The Steam Deck supports it. Windows can run it with some finaggling. Flash games will be around for years and there are collections and software packages that run them now. It just won't have built-in browser support anymore.
