Does anyone have an accurate Ab Pad pattern? Or is this something that gets done in a run every few months?

Never heard of anyone with a pattern...but IMO the best one can be obtained from SMGToy.....aka Rick, our official combat photographer. Its perfect in size and color.

Let me know if you want one and Ill call him and give him the info...since he rarely posts here.

I'd be interested too.

I picked up some really nice gray vinyl earlier this year.

A guy was selling two SU-used ones on ebay a few months

ago, but pulled the auction.

A trace or head on shot with dimensions would be very helpful. Some one could make a PDF file that could be reprinted 1:1 scale. The R2-D2 Builders group has blueprints like that. The are permanent files that anyone can download and take to a printer.

I made one a while ago - drew up the pattern in illustrator and sewed it up myself. It's probably not screen accurate but I'll see if I can find the .ai file. It was made to fit the fiberglass dietrich armour MAA sold a while ago and the height was adjusted to fit the display mannequin I have i.e you probably want to print it out and adjust to fit your armour and height otherwise it might be uncomfortable if you're wearing it. The waist strap also needs to be attached at the right height for your BDU trousers.

edit:

here is the .ai file (acroread should open it) but you might need to save it to disk first. It's about 5mm too big all around to allow for the seam.

I left scans of the ab plate and groin protector in the file for size reference.

After sewing around the seam (inside out and leaving a decent gap at the top) I turned it right side out, put a layer of thin foam inside - stuck the template on with double sided tape and sewed around the inner lines.
