Post subject:  Gear/Weapon bag, interest?

I was going through Eagle's site and saw this bag.

Image

It struck me as being bloody perfect for a convention bag, to hold a weapon and a costume (or costumes) and sundry gear.

At 32" the gun pocket will fit a pulse rifle perfectly.

From the eagle site:

Product Description: An upgrade from our standard Sigma Bag, the TS-1201-M4 discreetly carries your M4. It's constructed of rugged 11 oz. Cordura® nylon. The Sigma-M4 is a versatile and rugged travel bag that offers durability and security for your personal belongings while also offering a discreet way to carry your M4.

• Special padded insert for your M4 that fits in the large side pocket.
• Closure assist flap on the main compartment.
• Snap down storm flap on the main compartment.
• Large #9 YKK® zippers on all compartments with dual sliders.
• Continuous wrap around carrying handles for superior weight support.
• Metal "D" rings on the side for attaching additional equipment to the outside of the bag.
• Two detachable padded shoulder straps for three carrying configurations: Suitcase, as a shoulder bag or hands free backpack style.

Dimensions:
Main Compartment: 33” x 15.25” x 10.5”
Large Side Pocket: 32.5” x 13” x 3”
Side Pockets (x2): 15” x 13” x 3”

It comes in Black OD or Khaki.

I live close to eagle and can pick stuff up there, If I get a large enough order there I might be able to get a price break. The bag retails for $153, Kind of pricey for a mere bag, but considering the features, and Eagles uncompromising quality it's not bad IMO.

I'm just wondering at this point if anyone would consider such a bag and is it worth the price considering I might be able to get a bulk discount.
If I had an idea of how many I might need I can run it by eagle and see what's what.

I'd be interested in something like that but shipping to the UK could prove too costly I feel.

It might not be as much as you think if it can be folded or made smaller in some way. Also it can't weigh much either so that should be an advantage.

WOW that`s perfect isn`t it :D

I don`t think I could go for one till after the NSC & maybe even after Xmas.

Though as I`ve got no PR case as it is,this would work a treat for all the kit.

Cheer`s M & if it`s okay I`ll get back to you when I can afford one :D

I'm sure I'll get the chance to send one to the UK soon enough so we'll see what it will cost.

I'm going to go pick one up and see what it's like in person and see how it works.

I'm thinking that a piece of rigid foam cut the shape of a pr would help secure the weapon within the insert pouch...trouble is that stuff is expensive when bought in blank sheets.

I suppose with the weight not being too much it may definitely be a go-er for the UK.

If that bag was available in the UK they'd just substitute the $ with a £ anyway so...

I'm having a tough time finding a UK based Eagle distributor to compare prices, if you find one let me know.

I was talking to a guy in France and he said that new Eagle gear is almost three times the price listed on Eagles site.
They don't ship directly to Europe so you pretty much have to pay whatever price the distributor demands.

Nice find.

I sometimes use a vintage Nam era weapons drop bag.
I can put all my gear and rifle in it since it is adjustable with straps.
It has backpack type straps for lugging it around.

IIRC I picked it up from Sportsmans Guide for $14.

Got the bag in, it's very nice, much larger than I expected.

Gun in pocket, the inner case keeps the gun safe and also prevents "printing".

Image

IMO looks like anything BUT a gun case.

Image

Large side pockets hold a BDU set each.

Image

Havent confirmed it just yet but it looks as though a set of armor might well fit in there. With room for more.

More pix.

I'm thinking I can do it for $140 shipped (in the US), A modest savings but better than retail plus shipping.

Uk shipping would be 'at cost'.

I need to get 5 orders.

I'd be interested but would also want to see if my armour would fit in there first, including the helmet.

Would shipping all the UK orders to one person save on shipping at all? Or would that just lead to a big customs charge opposed to possibly none if shipped individually?

Cheers

Checking the armor fit now.

As for UK, I think individual shipping is the way to go for customs reasons...You lot would know better than I.
I can do it either way.

I think re-distributing them would sort of negate any savings if you had to ship them again once in the UK.

It's an unbuilt USCM armor kit but It's apparent that either whole or in part a set of armor fits with room to spare. There is BTW a PR in the gun pocket . The helmet is below the chest plates but usually I place the helmet within the chest plates when I pack the armor... which means there would be even more room in there.

Looks like TK armor would fit in there pretty nicely as well.

As mentioned I'm prepared to let the bag pictured above go right now, otherwise PM me if you want on a list and LMK what color you want.

They will be COD so I'll need the money for them up front in order to pick them up and re distribute them.

FYI for Our UK garrison...

Looks like priority is $45.90 and express is $58.75

Box is 13.5x6x36, weighs 7lb 8 oz

Bit pricey but compared to what the alternative is, It's pretty reasonable.

**EDIT** It appears the shipping price goes up by about $20 increments for each extra bag/weight I add to the postage rate calculator, so theoreticaly shipping two or three at a time would not be so bad after all.

For instance Priority rate for three bags approxamately 22 lbs is $92.10, split three ways it's $30.07...add 5 bags and split 5 ways it's $28.32...
