The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I'm looking for a hat to go with a Gorman "C' uniform. (I think it's called a C uniform?)
The uniform he wears when he and Burke go to see Ripley. I've been told that the hat is a UK NCO's forage cap. I assume you have military surplus shops and thus, this might be a fairly common place item there?

I don't have a screen cap handy, and this was the only photo I could find on-line. I do have a photo in my files of the screen used hat, but it's not my photo so I shouldn't post it without permission.

The one I'm looking for should have a leather bill, preferably one in "like new" condition.

Any thoughts?

I'm a bit pushed for time to search for the exact thing DSB but this place looks promising.

Haryy, thank you very much for the link. I didn't see one with the correct bill, but I'll keep looking.

Ska, if you could take a look, please do. But don't pick anything up, just let me know if they have one and what their price is? The ones I've seen so far are somewhat expensive once shipping is thrown in.

I'd need one sized 62cms, or 7 & 3/4 on the imp. scale. I pray that the scale I found is reading right.

Not to cramp your thread here DSB, but does anyone across the pond know a source for police hats?

The flat cap style, soft top with checkered pattern; not the boob style ;)

I was under the impression that Gorman's cover was the same as you can find here..., being that it's a variation of a USMC "Charlie" uniform, and utilized the service garrison cover.

To be honest, I'm not sure.

I'll send a screen grab from Hot Fuzz and see what you think.

Thanks
Again, sorry for the hijack DSB ;)

Just a couple of points.

Over here a forage cap is generaly thought of as one of these (correctly a field service cap):

The type of hat you're looking for is an "SD Hat". SD - Service Dress.
You won't find one with a leather peak. Officers have a cloth peak, Other ranks have a black, plastic, patent peak.

However I was under the impression also that Gorman's hat was a standard USMC cover?

Os, you know it. It's always a chore to find a fitted cap.

Tony, don't worry, it's cool. 8)

Devildog, WDI, I'm not sure. I was just going by what a friend told me.

The only reason I am thinking it was a USMC cover is that someone (I can't remember who) was doing that uniform a while ago and the question of the hat came up then. I'm sure he found a USMC cover that was the same.

Holy cats, $69.95?!

Maybe I should just find a way to repair the damage on mine, it fits, it was cheap, hard to justify that kind of $$ for a new item I'll be lucky to put into "action".
