The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Yea me neither! I'll try to sort it out when I get back from a Football game. I get a message saying to big. Problem fixed. I attached a list of the colors I used that might be useful for those of us that don't have access to Humbrol Paints.

Base Coat:Testors 1265 Flat Olive Drab (spray can)

Camo colors:
Model Master British Gulf LT Stone (tan color)
Model Master Leather (dark brown)
Tamiya Olive Green XF-58 (dark green)
Tamiya J.A. Grey (light grey)

I think you're doing fine! It's looking great! What I do is draw out the pattern that the green and black is going to take w/ a carpenter's pencil. I get the main patterns and just follow up from there.

Looks great. Nice colors and pattern too, IMHO.

Just my two cents ...

I'd dry brush a bit more Silver/Aluminum on all the edges and "ding" up the surfaces some too.

Fantastic work!

No disrespect intended to Chris, but I think yours looks weathered enough. Chris' does look good, but sometimes over-weathering can make something look a little fake. I've always been a believer in the 'less-is-more' philosophy, and of course the 'it's easy to add but hard to take away' philosophy!

In any case, really good job there.

I agree on the weathering. You can have too much of a good thing. My first paint job on my pulse rifle was the same way. Every sharp edge was "weathered." Then I got to looking at where the paint was scraping my armor, and where my armor was getting scraped by the rifle, and changed my ideas quickly. :)

Great job on the paint! (You too Chris! The new neck armor looks good!)

Did you use an airbrush for the camo, or do it by hand with a model brush?

For this paint job, I decided to start with a base coat in the OD green from a spray can. Then hand paint the green, tan, brown and light gray. Next dry brush on graphite (this dulls the colors). Next I airbrushed a flat black to create contours. After that I sprayed bright aluminum into the cap and brushed it on the edges (where the paint would naturally rub off.) Added various nicks and scrapes. Next up: padding, knife, lighter and various knick knacks. Cool thing about armor is that everyone can do it the way he/she likes.

Nick, (Materials) I have a 4 green 1.5 buckles, rubber for the shins, neck trim material, abdomen Pleather and 1" OD green strapping. I bought more than enough for one so I have left over for another.

Stonedog: The rivets are just that rivets.....for jeans! I found them at a fabric store. They are for making your own jeans, I just sanded them down to expose the brass.

Some one on here has a TE Hudson suit that I used for reference. His belt and Grenade bandoleers use them so I just used that for reference. Same with the paint job.
