Hey Spat just to let you know my helmet was just delivered thank you Just to say, great/quick service and i love it, much better in the flesh. Can i ask, ill be doing a screen look camo paint job on it, will the green its painted in take Humbrol ok do you know ???? Thanks again.

You got it so quickly because you placed your order just before I started a new Vacc run, so you got tossed into the mix! It's a flat paint, so it should act as a primer for the most part, but I've never used Humbrols, so can't say for sure. But glad you like it!

thanks both Nick, i haven't forgot about the spray, still waiting on the box for colour reference, as soon as it turns up, ill sort it. by the way, you mentioned in one of your threads that you can remove the camera, i can see a few small screws on the outside but not sure if there real or part of the cast, can you tell me how to rmove it please cheers

ok stonedog, to remove the camera, first take out the inner of the helmet (the bit that has all the straps etc that ur head goes into) then inside the helmet will be two screws holding the cam in place. simply unscrew them and off comes the camera! easy

The liner should just pull out, it might be caught on one of the rivets/screws use to attach the add ons. SAS

Yeah, the screws on the outside of the camera are just for show! The liner should just pull out. I wedge them in pretty well to keep them from slipping out on it's own, but it shouldn't be too hard to remove.

Maybe try sticking a large flat blade screwdriver down between shell and liner and twisting it a bit at various spots to release it. SAS

When I did mine the green acted as the perfect primer for the humbrol. You might want to clean off the silver with some thinners before you start, it comes off really easy. I don't know if anyone else found this, but the silver did mix with the humbrol colours. Cheers, Andy.

ok, thanks for the help and advice original plan was to base spray it with Humbrol 30 which i just bought in a rattle can, but think ill just use the green thats there as the base and just go over it with Humbrol 63, 98 and 147. cheers again

also if you want to dirty it up a bit after painting, black/grey pigment powder works great, sealed in with a matt spray varnish.

@Spat: I want to trim the edge of the inner liner down a bit, what can I use? I've tried various small saws, tin snips, etc., but everything just bounces/slips off it.

I cut the liner with sheet metal snips. I've never had a problem with it, but I have really strong hands.

May I suggest the dremel cutting disk that is reinforced with fiberglass? It takes much more punishment than the thinner, non-reinforced disk...which shatter if you even look at them wrong.
