The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I spotted the Alien Head edition of the Alien Quadrilogy; it's way more expensive than the standard box set but comes with a cool Alien head.

Has anyone bought this and if so is it any good?

Also what does this 9 disc mammoth version (either in the head edition or standard box set) have that the "Alien Legacy" box set (that I already have) doesn't?

Is it worth me getting this (either version) to replace what I have already?

im currently looking for the alien quadrilogy myself to buy, i think it has a new cut of each film which the alien legacy box set does not have. Im only getting it because of Alien 3 has 30 minutes of extended footage in it. i think alien ressurection has 8 minutes of extra, not sure about alien and aliens. think it also has an extra documentary covering the 4 films

They have it on Play.com if you're in the UK - it's only £16 (£100+ for the Alien Head Edition).

The Quad discs are well worth getting. A couple of the special editions ain't on the Alien Legacy box set?

The Head is pretty cool, but isn't too detailed. The dome doesn't fit too well, but I am getting it signed by the cast members that I meet. I managed to get mine for £39 in the HMV sale.

The Quad set, if you already own Legacy, is for the serious fan that must have every "Aliens" releated item. The "Alien" extended film footage I BELIEVE was available as extras on the Legacy DVD. The Extended "Aliens" film was the same as the Laser Disc version we all know and love. Now "Alien 3" its a different story. That film, by the way you can buy em seperately if you want, was a rewrite disaster and it shows in the Extended version. This version is the only film that I bought, as it had never been available before, and was worth the 14.99 I paid for it. The extended scenes are emmence, and some even add to the "Alien" universe in a new way. One thing being the Two Egg laying Facehugger, and various other benifits. I wholely recommend picking up this film, the rest you've probably already seen. As for "Alien resurection" well I never watched the extended version, as it was utter and complete garbage in the first place, and I refuse to recognize it as a canon anyway.....

You guys don't have the Quadrilogy boxed set?!

Only joking, but it is worth getting. It's a very comprehensive source of reference.

That set should be called...' Everything you wanted to know about the alien movies, but were afraid to ask'

its worth every penny, 2 versions of each film, plus each film comes with a bonus disc, the alien head is not that good, i have one.... im just wondering how long it will be before Fox re-issue the films , and include the preadtor films in the set as well...

Yeah, they could call it the "Driving the franchise into the ground edition."
Then you'll have the "Super platinum flogging a dead horse, ultra collectors edition."

Don't make my mistake and sell the Legacy set if you have it*.

The menus, and some of the extras ( Including commentary tracks ) are different.

( *Unless you wanna sell it to me for cheap ;) )

I've had my Quad set for about 3 years now and still not seen all the discs. Aliens and Aliens bonus disc.....well it goes without saying that they have been used more than once ;)
