The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I think I already asked, but is there anything I need to do to join? or is just posting on here sufficient?

It would be good to have some formal letter stating who we are and what we do, so if I do get stopped and searched by a police officer, I can show them such and explain why I am carrying around a (pretty evil looking) replica assault weapon ;)

I'm getting a case with my PR tomorrow, I am gonna look into making it lockable...

Are there any charities involved with the event at the NSC?

I tried posting using the form on the website but had no reply, so thought I'd just ask here instead ;)

1. Just print off a page saying what the PR is (airsoft/resin, etc.) and keep that with the weapon.

2. Always keep the PR hidden/in a case/closed bag, as walking around with it over your shoulder in public can get you in trouble.

3. The UKCM currently collect for the NSPCC via JustGiving.com:

See you at the NSC in November. :D

The NSC is a charitable organisation, the UKCM have recently announced they will be collecting for charity, and the UKG collect for charity too. (To cover the main groups involved in the Sci-fi event in Nov!)

If you have a look at the discussion thread about the UKCM constitution, theres a few posts about carrying of weapons to and from events, with a good disclaimer and what to do if questioned by a copper.

Hope that helps.

woohoo my PR arrived this morning! \o/

needs alot of work, the guy who had it before seems to have filled it with what looks like polyfilla, it hasn't been sanded down, the vent assembly needs putting together, the magazine seems to be glued in (! - unless its an old kit and it doesnt come out??), and he's patched various holes with plasticard, which luckily seems easy enough to get out...

looks like the slidy bit for the GL pump-action grip is glued in too :(

on the plus side it does all seem to be there, and I am gonna have alot of fun making it all shiny and new ;)

now i just need to get my IT mate to get me an LED counter thingy...

Not that it matters much, what will be the entrance fees for attendees and 'helpers' alike at the NSC? :)

What's the plan for accommodation? Will there be a 'run-ashore' in the evening? Food? :D
