The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

For all you SG experts, I've been trying to work out what the points of attachment are of the front struts, to the MG42 barrel shroud.

We can see that the left and right struts are bolted together through a tube on the top, but were they bolted onto the shroud itself at any point?

It would seem a little tricky without inpeding the inner barrel.

Could they have been welded on?

I'm pretty sure there were 2 bolts at the front just below the centerline. At the back of mine I bent a piece of 8mm threaded rod to curve under the barrel and poke out the holes in the side because I didn't want to make too many "permanent" mods to the Shoei.

I'm building mine around a Matsuo MG-42. The only found part I don't have is the ammo drum, not sure what I'm gonna do about that yet.

Right now I'm just in prep, figuring out the best ways to go about the assembly. Getting the whole barrel assembly connected to the receiver section is looking like the biggest challenge right now, as there is nowhere to sink a bolt on that part of the barrel shroud.

Si

They are both secured to the weapon at the front below the centre line. As mentioned they are joined via a tube at the top. Only the left strut is fixed at the rear slightly in front of where the front handle riser sits.
