That's what had me thinking... ![]() So, how best do I get this thing painted up? ![]() |

The ear piece looks a little different. Looks like all plastic. As for painting, all the plastic/metal parts sand with 400grit before priming and painting. Those parts will hold up well. As for the cable, I recommend replacing it with a black cable or putting on some black shrink tube over original. I also wouldn't paint the rubber mic end. Won't stick. Anybody heard or seen of OD signal cable? |

The earpeice has a rubber bung to insert in the ear - the original on Harry's site seems to be missing this factory issued part. http://www.harryharris.com/headset2.htm Can anyone paint this and fix it up good 'n proper for me (black cord etc)? Even if I had the right paint, I'd only funk it up. Needs to be a trusted member here ('cos I don't want to lose it now) and I don't mind paying for a swell job. ![]() Seems a shame to 'ruin' it, but needs must... ![]() Failing that, what paint should I use? ![]() Yes, I know the 'pads' are the wrong way round - forgot to check before turning them! ![]() ![]() |

if i was the lucky owner, i think i would use acrylic primer followed by matt car spray paint, after lightly keying the surface with either wet and dry or a used scotchbright pad (you dont want to scratch it up too much just key the plastic) put a drop of washing up liquid in warm water to clean it too so as to remove any grease residue so the paint sticks. ![]() |

I have a headset as well, one question though, in the movie how do these headset work? are they supposed to be a 'wireless' type of head set? as you don't see them plugged into anything..does the wire just hang loose? or do i keep missing a vital scene in the movie.. ![]() |

On close ups of Hicks you see it go under his BDU collar. My guess is it just hangs lose on the inside |

Thanks so far. Can I 'sand/key' it with a Dremel? What's the suggested paint mix? ![]() |

No dremeling for surface prep. Is that what you mean? |

Just need a fast method of keying. Hand-sanding is so laborious! |

It's not like you're sanding a car or a boat! It's just a little guy! ![]() If it's too much work, send it to me... for keeps. ![]() Does anyone still make resin ones? Russ |

Shouldn't be that long. Just get a flexible sanding foam block and some wet sand 400 grit + a little water. Trust me you'll ruin it if you use a dremel. |
