The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

So I'm pretty much finished with my USCM sniper rifle, made of course from the Nerf Longshot (best Nerf to date with the exception of the Star Wars rebel blaster).

My buddy and his dad bondo'ed the top of the "pistol" part of the gun to fill that stupid hole that was there. Otherwise, the gun was sanded, painted with Krylon Fusion Satin Black, the "highlights" were done with Krylon brown camo, and the rough spots are drybrushed with Citadel "chainmail" paint I had laying around from my old Warhammer days. The front part of the gun still needs to be drybrushed, but I think this gun is ready for the D*C drop.

My next Longshot mod will involve cutting to turn it very pulse rifle-esque.

Lookin' good there bro, really good! That Nerf is one outstanding weapon. I've modded one myself, it really lends itself to some outstanding sci-fi blastin'!!

And here I thought I was the only person doing something like this with a Longshot... xD Silly Sean.

I actually took mine apart to make some firepower-improving mods - dremel'ed out the airflow restrictor, added another spring, etc, and decided I might as well paint it while it's taken apart.

Easily the best freakin gun Nerf has come up with.

Looking good all brown bessed out!

I've got one myself that I've sanded off all the Nerf N-Strike crap, and have painted Krylon ultra flat black.

What I'm thinking though is giving it soooo much weathering, that it ends up looking more silver than black. If you take the front nose piece off, the gun actually can pass for a 40W Plasma Rifle from T2:

The pic was taken on my porch... Florida... sunny day. So it actually looks better in person. So folk can see it in person at DC.

If it will help, my local TRU is loaded with rebel blasters.

When first reading this thread, I was the other way around.
I had no idea what a Longshot was.

I do now...

If you do a search for the longshot on youtube there is a whole bunch of stuff.
Some modded stuff.
There is another forum called nerfhaven.
Those guys do some crazy mods to their nerf guns.

There is a guy over on the RPF who did an outstanding job of modding the LS. And with the photos Dom posted that had some people holding moded LS's, I'm going to have to get one myself.

The Nerf Rebel blaster. 30 Frakking years, they finally give us a version of the first rebel blaster seen in the movies. It is a godsend. Seriously. MR had a $200 version. So what you are looking at is if Nerf decided to make a Motion tracker or pulse rifle. And excellent reasonable alternative to the MR blaster pistol.

Romeo, I'm Gainesville. Longtime Megacon and Vulkon attendee (well actually I work Vulkons), this year will be my 3rd at D*C... Done a few FXes.

I probably know you on sight, and vice versa.

I also know who TentacleChris and MerMear are. Likewise I know Lum, Doom, Milf...

My name is John. Some refer to me as "Kevin Bacon" or "That guy with the surly sidekick". I'm also the team leader of SG-13 for scifihero.net

I am everywhere... mwahahaa! Thanx. I saw the Longshot and immediately it set me in gear to work on a Marine outfit. One that didn't involve the BMX armor I did back in 2001... oy.

Urg. I crossed the line into pseudo-Tupperware when I did my Rebel Fleet Trooper costume. Stupid helmet... urg.

It was either BMX or motocross. I remember inhaling fumes as I used 3 or 4 different of the Krylon camo paints... baseballs shin guards, and a baseball catcher chest thing for the underpart. It actually looked good to the casual observer.

But now that stuff is buried in the garage to be unearthed Saturday for the wife's mandatory purging of "junk" (read: my stuff). Guess I'll use the armor as a basis for something now.

We have some great custom gear around here. Doesn't really matter what it's made from just how it looks on the other end  We're pretty casual like that.
