The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

For those of you lucky enough to own a real alarm box, could you tell me what it's molded color is? I've seen pictures and it appears to be a light gray color, but is this the color of the plastic, or paint applied later on in it's production?

Erm... box, handle, arm and lamp about covers it I think.

Did you mean you wanted to know what all the parts originally were stonedog7563? I'd say check the archives section but it might be a good idea to wait until the board moves so that you can run an effective search for what you're looking for.

I was about to say that I think you are, but I just ran a search for the word 'shoulder' and actually got the results. Previously I've just got "no words match your criteria" or some such.

I think EZboard must have fixed the search function and not told anyone. Oh well, too late now that we're moving!

Things to remember when searching using ezboard search function:

It defaults to Case sensitive ('dog' matches 'dog' not 'Dog'), and sometimes it'll re-check the box when you're back-tracking through searches, so always look at it each time.

Select Search in Entire message.

Search Archives forum first, then Ready Line, then the others.

The 'shoulder' search works in the Archive, finding all parts needed. 8)

Thanks mnoble. So would it be safe to say that once painted, these would show their grey color when the edges get scuffed up?

I'm trying to decide if and when I get mine painted to go along with my armor, should I paint it like it would have been on set to get super accurate?

All I want to know is what that black handle is that Matt has in his picture.

Yes. I doubt that when the production guys were painting the suit lights, that they used an undercoating of silver so that when the upper coat of BB was chipped, it showed as silver metal underneath. And from the look of the light in the film, it doesn't look like they used any metal highlights to indicate worn metal.

So...if I base this in light grey, then cover it with BB and chip away at it, then it would technicly be screen accurate, right?

DSB,

From looking at reference photos and screen shots, it would seem that nothing was applied under (or over) the BB paint.

It looks like the areas that are chipped, and the edges that are worn, show the original cream color of the lamp box underneith.

(personally) I'd go with a primer, just so the paint has something to adhere to.

Maybe not even a gray color.
Perhaps rust colored or white (?)

In this case, I'd think white would be the way to go.
