The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hey peeps,
So recently I advertised on an FB group that I do some graphical work and someone asked me to create the Balaji Imperial Cigarette Box from Alien and so I did. This is the final result of what I have made and I wanted to share it with you all. I only spent a few days putting it together and doing a few test prints. It is available online but not sure I can share the sales link here as I think that breaks Forum rules? Anyway here's some pics for you all to check out. I've put a reference image in as well just for comparison. I'm quite happy with how this has turned out. This is my first attempt at creating a replica prop so I'm quite happy I was able to finish it and get something made :)
Enjoy :)

Very cool.

I've done similar [using retrogarde's design], I've stumbled on making the cigarettes, can't get the b*stards to roll tightly enough /convincingly. Might just buy some fake [or real] prop ones and try gluing my yellow paper over the top ...

I see you copied my text at the bottom. I guess I'm flattered?

As far as you selling these, that seems to be particularly bad form given that you copied my work, which was done many years back and has been available for free.

Hey dude,
I found several images online which I used for reference. On some images it says Weyland Yutani with the wings logo above it, some say 20 Cigarettes and others said Premium Nigerian Tobacco. I went along the lines of I can't see Weyland Yutani being into the tobacco industry as they tend to focus on more technological advancements and expanding out into space. I also came across 2 difference box size variants and just went with what was closest to the screen shot referance image I was using. If you want, I can always revise my version by changing the text at the bottom to something else so it doesn't feel like I've copied your work. Being a digital artist / 3d artist myself, I know how frustrating it can be to see people copying work / stealing work and them selling it for their profit.

In regards to selling it, I'm trying to make graphic work / 3D modelling a full time job for myself now through self-employed work since the lost of my job a few months back so I had to consider selling the graphic work over giving it out for free. If I was making enough money else where I would happily give it away for free because of the size of the piece but due to my current circumstances I chose to sell it instead in hope of it helping me out financially.

Again, I am happy to revise my version to change the text at the bottom to something else if this would make you feel more comfortable.

You've no reason to apologize. You were defending your work like any artist should. A revised version will be made as agreed.

Updated link here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1534596 ... print-from
