I was originally going to keep this 'as received' for collectible value, but, ya know, to hell with that! This was a fun little job! The shrouds are easily removed once all the screws are out, you just need to unscrew the counter, speaker and stock once you are inside and everything separates niceley. I didn't mess around with it a whole lot, since I wanted everything to still function as intended. I squared up the rounded corners of the shroud where it meets the top of the Spas Cage and sanded off all the extraneous logos and the little triangle next to the PR counter. The black stripes also need to be sanded down, or they show through the newly primed parts. I also filled the indented 'lip' at the top of the mag base, added the screw on the bottom of the grip, sanded back the proturberance under the shotgun barrel, lenhthened the bolt and added the screw plate on the pump and sling loops. The shrouds were airbrushed with Premium Blaster Brown. The colour looks pretty good to me, it's a little 'greener' than I remember the real Brown Bess and the LDR recreation, but it definiteley looks the part, and I will use it again when I finally get around to building an incinerator. Finished result: Attachment: Attachment: With my 'Hero' airsoft (Shrouds painted with LDR BB) Attachment:

It's a laquer though, so I bought some of the brand thinner to clean the brush. |

My first experiences with the airbrush were with actual Brown Bess , and that stuff was like spraying mud mixed with xeno acid, killed about three brushes painting Frontier Models Motion Tracker kit buildups for folk. I only use it for weird colour mixes I can't get out of a can. The Blaster Brown is pretty decent though, it's pre-thinned for airbrush and goes on well, and is dry in seconds, it's really matt. A couple of coats over grey primer and you're good. You'll need a couple of bottles and probably one for luck for the whole job. |

Hi birdie, Nice job. How did you fill the screwholes? I'm a bit frightened that you can't open the shrouds any more... Cheers, Kai |

Cheers, Kai I filled them with Milliput, and glued the shrouds together with superglue, so I hope to hell i don't need to open them up again ![]() A better idea, which I didn't think of until now would be to use a little hot glue on the tips of the screw pegs. if you really need to get them apart you should be able to heat the shrouds with a hair dryer to open them up. |
