The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Some of you might remember me from about tens years ago. I was making fan films and building monsters. I was planning to do an Aliens Vs Terminator fan film and had my Terminator well under way and my hunter killer.. Anyway a series of unfortunate events caused me to have to give all that up sell everything move on.

I never even got to start on my Alien. I do not make films anymore but things have settled down enough that I wanted to start building again. Not for movies this time but just for display in my house. I posted a couple of teases in others threads and that was frowned upon...lol so I guess I will make this thread.

This is going to take me all year since I still work a full time job but I enjoy building.

This is not based on the movie scale costumes this is based on the larger puppets and the display Alien Warrior that Stan Winston (RIP) has mounted in his studio. So full size 8 feet tall or even taller, 16 feet from tail tip to finger tip.

Built entirely out of PVC and EVA foam. Everything you see is a work in progress... the painting will be done as a separate project after it is finished and there will be a "diorama" built with a little section of the colony and the hive, maybe even a victim.

Hey BTW what happened to Joe Ranger and Sgt Burton?

the puppets and Stan Winston display I was referring too. This is the scale I am going for.

Excellent! I like the choice of materials, it'll make it nice and light. You can hang it from the ceiling like the 'Operations' scene.
I don't know what happened to Sgt. Burton and Joe Ranger, maybe they've just moved on to other interests. I hate to admit it to myself that after all, the movie is almost 40 years old and I guess for some the interest wanes.

Sorry to see them go hope they are doing well as are you.

Thanks for the comments. My simple goal is for this to be the best Alien display in the whole world. Not counting the display at Stan Winstons of course. Since this is for display and not a film I plan to take my time and and get it they way I like it. Nothing is final yet. Even the head is just a base coat of paint so I can get a good look at it. I've already changed some things on it.

this is where it's going to be mounted..

Thanks! Still some work to do on the head... some shaping and some of the details need to be tweaked. Not bad for a big lump of foam though...

it's really intimidating in real life... you get the sense if this were alive you would have no chance against it.

Your Xeno head turned out excellently! You've inspired me to give this a go; did you use any templates, or just doing by eye, as you went?

Thank you sir!

Everything is by eye. I glue foam cut roughly to the profile I want and when it's thick enough I use an angle grinder with a sanding disk to shape it. Once the shape is close enough... like the body/arms/legs are right now... I will go back and do all the details. I used a dremel to remove foam, and glue foam on or use foam clay to add foam in.

It's harder than just using clay and making molds but with this you don't need to make a mold it is finished and ready to paint. Saves a lot of money as well.

I remember you AND your fan films! You did some great work!

Joeranger and Sgt. Burton just....kind of fell moved on. Sgt. showed up a few times off and on, Joeranger was still posting off and on over on the RPF. And I have a question for you! I tried sending you a PM, but I don't know if it got through. I was wondering if you remember purchasing something from me many years ago, sending payment in an envelope and adding a drawing too that envelope? For some reason I think it may be your work (I can post a picture) and I'm looking for a larger version to be done. So....contact me either way, would be great to hear from y0u. :)

Nice to hear from you. Too bad Joe and Burton dont post anymore. Bet they would like the Alien.

I don't remember sending you a drawing but post a pic... I will know right away if I drew it.
