Anyone know anything about this one?

99% sure this is a fan made item. I've never heard of a resin gun being used
on either Aliens or Alien 3, and the details just seem too crisp for this to be anything but a fan produced piece. Thoughts?

The gallery it came from...

These photos were taken around 2018.

Looks like Snow Wolf/Matrix shrouds with the squared off rear. It's also missing the pump grip.

Looks to me like a recast of an Icons replica, or maaaybe Icons prototype. That square short back end of the 'Icons' replica and its bulky barrel vent is what influenced the snow wolf/evike/G&P airsoft kits. Unlike the airsoft ones, the Icons had a reasonably proportioned magazine portion of the shroud, which that does appear to have.

The only thing that doesn't scream "icons" is the missing GL grip. I was under the impression the Icons rifle was static and that part was not removable.

A bit of a mystery there, but I don't see any scenario where that is screen used.

**EDIT** it absolutely has to be a cast of the Icons. The Icons had a little '20th century fox' plate glued to the bottom of the magazine. You can see in that re-cast that there is a weird plate on the bottom in the casting as if it was glued on after (like the Icons). Also look at that barrel/vent and the stock position. below are photos of the icons. They match in pretty much every way.

Seems like someone put in the effort to replace the barrels with metal and 'finish' the GL details. A real fan for sure. Not sure how it was ever passed as screen used tho.

I think you might be correct.
What screams ICONS to me is the sharp corner below the GL trigger.
See here for example (not my image):

I think on most other replicas, this isn‘t as pronounced.

Cheers!

Wow, my first PR was a resin recast of this exact gun. All the details match! The front grip was a separate piece.

This a related/unrelated secondary question regarding "vintage" rifles...

Anyone seen any recasts of the of the Aliens stunt PR with the wonky extended barrel that went over the front of the GL?

20 years ago they were all over the place, and now... they've just kind of vanished?

Yorkshire props was (still is?) selling casts of the screen used stunts with forward vents, but I think theirs is actually a cast of a cast. They are very nice build quality, but require a ton of cleanup on the details and aren't quite as centered as you would think. (bit of wobble in the shrouds). I got one and do love it.

If you mean vintage recasts, there is a fella on facebook who bragged that he worked for bapty and used to make casts of them in the 90s. He has on at least one occasion claimed his copies have been mistaken for screen used. Hard to know any hard numbers about that run, but I guess they are all in private collections. If they were as high quality as he says, people may just be keeping them locked up. I've never seen one myself.

I’m not a big ‘cast’ fan… casts all seem to be casts of casts and whilst stunts were used in filming they were never meant to stand up to any kid of scrutiny. Guess I’ve never seen the attraction…

 "That guy" also claimed Vasquez's screen matched stunt rifle which sold last year for big money in a Prop Store auction was one of his casts from the 90's  . It was not his cast, it was a genuine stunt made by production for the film

Yeah he has said a lot of stuff claiming his "Babty" bonifides that don't actually match with reality. He told me specifically that hero rifles were never on the rifle rack ("they were too heavy") despite a screen cap showing hero rifles in the rifle rack (the back ends were dead giveaways). He was a young lad during during aliens so I like to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he has shown some lack of stability to some respected people in the fandom (google a podcast about the last propstore auction). I'm trying to not throw anyone under the bus but some highly respected people have a critical eye toward this gentleman overall.

these people actually have this as the first photo in their gallery. Why are people so boldly like this.
the phrase for preemtive lying is "poisoning the well". (I meant to say icons). I feel like people who knowingly do this stuff need a pimp slap.
