Post subject: Shoulder Sling on a HCG Stunt Pulse Rifle???
PostPosted: Mon Jun 20, 2022 2:14 pm

Country: Ireland
Hi all,

I recently bought a HCG Stunt Pulse Rifle from Burner on here (excellent to deal with as always btw).

The pulsey itself is gorgeous but.....and this is my own fault.... for assuming HCG would have made the sling hooks wide enough for my Noble shoulder sling to actually fit! Turns out that the rear hook (on the shoulder stock) is too narrow for the sling hook to close properly.

I bought the stunt pulse with the intention of displaying it slung over the shoulder of a mannequin display.

HCG states that they are "Reinforced metal sling attachment points" so I assumed it would be no hassle and that it'd just hook on. To ASS-U-ME really does make an ASS out of U and ME!!!

Q: Has anyone else ever tried to put a sling on one of the HCG stunts? If so, does any of the slings out there (Chef, Spat etc.) actually fit the thing??

Thanks for any advice!

I missed the part about them being reinforced so I never thought to try putting a sling on it. Could you use a key ring or similar device as a spacer?

The clips do fit, and for display I think it would work fine.

My Noble clips definitely don't fit. And the more I try; the more I'm going to risk damage to the pulse. Perhaps HCG quality control/dimensions differ per pulse rifle? Or is it possible Noble clips might slightly vary?

Third photo shows the maximum mine will fit in the shoulder stock hook.

With an attempt to show measurements of both the hook and Noble clip. How do they compare to yours?

Wow. I will measure for you when I get home! Key rings really may be your best bet and they come in pretty small sizes.

Might be a lot of work and decrease accuracy, but you could swap out the 'correct' hardware for one of those US Army canteen/utility strap clip ends. They are much smaller and 97% of the fandom wouldn't notice.

I did notice the other day that Aaron Horrocks has a new batch of straps with ... slightly odd fittings (pic borrowed from without permission from FB post ) -

Aaron Horrocks Company on FB

My personal thoughts are that these are reproduction clips (which is great! I wish I could find the source); annywaays, I was thinking that given that the new clips' hooks are not "rolled", they may be a better fit for your sling loops. Still likely have to shave the hook part's sides down a bit, but that's a 30sec job with an angle grinder + rattle can of black primer = job done.

Note: I'm not in any way affiliated with Aaron Horrocks Company, and it should be noted that none of his products for sale are screen accurate [IMHO ... YMMV].

Doesn't appear to be banned currently, but certainly hasn't been on the forum for several years.
I remember there was a lot of shit with failing to deliver stuff, and that it was never *his* fault.

Not defending the guy, but I'm not gonna give him a***holes either. Other than the fact that I think his stuff is generally over-priced for what it is, I'd not have a problem purchasing from him now; there's enough buyer protection via Etsy/Paypal.

He'd planned a run of camo BDUs before Spat and Chef were offering theirs. A bunch of red flags (like only a couple of us ever got our items) and the moderators stepped in to shut it down. MMA had burned the community badly and nobody wanted to see a repeat of that.
The stuff he sells on Etsy tends to be oddly inaccurate, but not unusable.

If I were to guess, it appears your metal reinforcement sunk in too much when it was made.

The HCG flamethrower sling mounts didn't look like that.

I agree with Noble… that hook is too deep set in the stock

Here's the measurement! 4.3mm on the back side too.

Unfortunately the best thing about the HCG is the Aluminium Shrouds…

Any suggestions on a keyring strong enough to hook on to the stock and then the sling hook as a spacer?

You guys have Walmart over there?

I bought decent quality rings for a couple bucks in the sewing/fabric/craft department.

Otherwise, Amazon.

We do not unfortunately :D

Could you post a pic of them (or a link) so I get an idea of what to aim for?

Well, a picture from the work computer is overly complicated, but the brand is D.I.Y! and the package was of ten pieces for a couple bucks.

Typical chrome rings- actually I think I posted a pic in the 161 staff jacket thread, because I bought these for the "keychain" prop worn on the belt...

These are about 1 inch diameter (25mm) and certainly heavy enough, but you may prefer a smaller diameter, and you might even find some in black oxide finish, rather than chrome plate.

I've got a replica sling put away somewhere. I'll probably use a small loop of black paracord to attach it to the stunt rifle.
