The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi Marines

Inbetween my 1/6th APC build I wanted to look at modeling and creating a more screen accurate IR drop Down sight for my armour.

Does anyone have any clear images, dimensions info etc as the images i've found online are pretty blurred. Does a screen accurate graphics exist, as I can only make out the middle section lol.

I see from the RPF doing a little research that a guy called Marsattacks made some near "screen accurate" ones back in the mid/early 2000's, but these haven't be avalible for years from my understanding.

If anyone can help it would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards

Steve

Yeah, MarsAttacks were very nice, but no longer makes them. Every now and then they pop up in the PX but are often pushing $150-200 (or more?) for one in good condition. The main thing about his were they were metal. Chef makes 3D printed ones. Spat has the cheapest option, but I've never owned one of his so I can't vouch for their accuracy.

Overall, for better images, look no further than this thread. Harry posted pics of the screen used helmet liners to show how the original IR sight mechanism worked (spoiler alert: it worked with rubber bands!).

Hi bigbisont

Many thanks for your reply and the link

I've only have this to say OMG, i've haven't seen anything like it LMAO.

I know its been mentioned these were knocked together, it looks like a Blue Peter job, or is that insult to Blue Peter lol.

Well being a ex precision engineer, I'm sure i can come up with a design that will work a dream.

I just need a clearer image of the graphic detail, and then I'll get stuck in.

Kind regards

Steve
