Next I tried doing the lobster plates. I used a picture of Frost's helmet for reference. The tan was a little too light. I added a few drops of brown ink to some water and washed the whole part. That helped darken it. Using brown paint with water would also work.

Wow, I have never seen that shot of Frost's helmet cover with a stencil instead of a name tape. Very cool! |

Next I painted the helmet. I used reference pictures from a few different helmets. I used features from the helmets and changed them slightly. The pictures of the helmets had almost none of the light grey streaks. Since it is on the rest of the armor I figured that there should be more on the helmet.

I brushed on the brown ink the same as the lobster plates. Then I remembered that I had some wood stain. That really helped to darken up the paint. When I was rubbing on the stain it started to soften up and wear through the tan paint in a few spots. It happened to be in the same spots as in the reference pictures. The paint also chipped in a few spots. I wiped on a semi-gloss polycrylic to seal the paint.
