The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Nice find on the suit, Joker. How did you find the sizing (what you ordered vs the size you normally wear)?

https://accosplay.com/collections/newes ... 4680797398

The suit was from accosplay. I found them a load of reference pictures and gave them the video game reference.

This was the closest I could find to a quick and easy turn around service. I did not like that it was potentially a chinese made unit, but there were not really any other players in the field that could do this sort of thing that were not booked solid.

I will see if they want to list it on their site as the suit is an easy make for them and could garner them a few sales.

AS time goes on I suspect all props will have accurate 3d models.

I got the printed parts in. It is assembled, but, I need to seal it with resin and then paint and seal it with varnish. I prefer warhammer paints on some of this stuff as the colors don't change as they go on color wise and dry.

I opted for opera gloves for the hands. Think low cost budget cuts on manufacturing. Plus it will allow one to last longer. silicone entombed head and hands equals one hot day.

Hey peeps,
As a games developer myself, it's really cool to see peeps wanting to bring part of Alien Isolation into the real world. Looking forward to see what you peeps come up with. I managed to find an ArtStation post (portfolio website) for the person who modelled the working Joe's for the game. There's only a couple of images on it but they are good references for peeps hunting down clothing. Hope it helps :)

Mark kowal made the mask and it was elwire with a mesh. His neck is shorter than mine so i have to order a dickies collar turtleneck to address that.

Just for fun my son wanted to do a "Davis" style Working Joe costume from Aliens Defiance. We got a cheap balaclava and carnival mask, and his actual glasses complete the look. Making the eyes glow would be cool though.

Looks cool.
Re glowing eyes - there's a few things like this on Etsy - bendable-led-light-up-cosplay-eyes or, DIY it - google "glowing eyes cosplay" or "Space Marine cosplay".

I resurrected my voice changer for goul'd/tok'ra and it could work as a working joe. I just need to find a good speaker amp to boost the voice. I got it really, really close with an off the shelf adafruit voice changer:

A soundbite I made with the voice changer just as an example. Close enough to the joe.

OK, I found a better solution using a raspberry pi. Yay more parts to buy

https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-voi ... t/overview

https://projects.raspberrypi.org/en/pro ... ddle%20pin.

https://planet-geek.com/2015/10/29/hack ... halloween/

play "|rec --buffer 2048 -d pitch -300 echos 0.8 0.88 100 0.6 150 .5 band 1.2k 1.5k"

Basically you pipe the microphone input to the speaker. You can either set it as a static voice setting or use a rotary encoder or potentiometer to change various values.

That is a next year deal. I am having to save up for a bigger adafruit order for after the con. Like a 500 in parts deal. This inflation stuff is killing me.

Regardless I can try to remember to bring the arduino based voice changer which I have built.

OK, got my speaker in. I may just get a part and see what I can run with.
