The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Don’t forget the Cinefex issues (1,27 and I think 50 for the first three films).

There’s also ‘Aliens the Set Photography’, ‘Alien - the Archive’, ‘Alien & Aliens the illustrated Screenplay’ and ‘The Alien Vault’.

Thanks Harry.
Cinefex was exactly what I had in mind!
Just wanted to get the post up and started, I'll go through my shelves when I have a chance.

This is the only book I know of that is devoted entirely to Alien3. It is also 95% in Japanese.

Nice idea, retrogarde.

May I add a few?

Starlog Issue 22 - Feature interview with Veronica Cartwright.
Starlog Issue 23 - Full-color preview plus an interview with Dan O'Bannon.
Starlog Issue 24 - Feature interview with Walter Hill.
Starlog Issue 26 - This issue is devoted to The Making of Alien, with exclusive interviews with Ridley Scott and Tiger.
Starlog Issue 27 - Feature article: The Special Effects Supervisor: Brian Johnson and Nick Allder of Alien.
Starlog Issue 34 - No BTS info, but an interesting article about the Halloween 1979 "Alien" spectacle that Bob and Kathy Burns hosted, using the film's props and costumes to great effect!
Starlog Issue 41 - Feature article on The "Alien" Miniatures.
Starlog Issue 103 - Feature article on Terry Rawlings: Editor.

As of this writing, these issues were available for free download at archive.org

FenGiddel - DUDE! You rock! I had no idea these were available for download!? My plan has always been to hunt down physical copies via ebay, etc.
As much as I like holding these sorts of things in my hands, Archive.org is the better way to go (for me).

What a great selection! I have a couple of those Starlogs, but the majority of these are new to me!

A few more -

Other stuff -

Archive.org also has copies of the following available -
  • Ron Cobb's Colorvision
  • Alien Magazine Collector's Edition
  • Aliens: The Official Movie Magazine
  • Aliens Colonial Marines Technical Manual
I've not linked to these as I'm 99.9% they are not free publications / in the public domain. If you want what I believe are illegal copies of these, you can search for these on Archive.org yourself. All of the other above links are probably also copyrighted too ... but meh.

Couldn't find copies of the following (but all contain Aliens franchise articles) -
  • Starburst Magazine #097
  • Starburst Magazine #105
  • Starburst Magazine Summer Special #12
  • Starburst Magazine Monster Special #15

This is good stuff! One should do a data base with all these sources for academic studies or research around the films. I have a few books too but I’m not in the mood to figure out which one is already noted and which one is not so I might need some help. I’m pondering if one should just take a pic of their backs and place them here or something. They are all BHS/History non-franchise.

There's a good chance I have these in the archive so I'll check as soon as I can. If I find anything I'll let you know and am happy to scan the articles if you like.

We list this one yet? Nothing original from the studios so not sure if this counts.
I got it for Xmas.
Some very cool images of original art inspired by the first movie.
