Not the correct look, but looks the part?

I’m sure we may have discussed this many moons ago but I wondered whether we should revisit this subject and try to analyse it… I believe that we have always assumed or it has always been asserted that the hand welders were just suspended from the belts of the CMs by para cord… has anyone been able to analyse this further with some better closeups and has anyone been able to replicate the method or has anyone got a good method which is secure and provided the correct ‘look’? |

This is how i did mine. Just a bit of paracord and a Clip.

I think at least one character removes a welder from their belt quite quickly at some point (I'm at work at the moment so can't check), so it's possible that there may have been a clip on the side of one or more of the props. Harry |

I always thought it was "tie line". That and gaff tape are everywhere on sets and backstage. It's just black cord on a spool, they use it for everything. I'm not sure though. |

Yes I can see a long spring metal clip down the side which would be ideal for hanging the hand welder or even having it (the clip) in a pocket… that’s ideal thanks Harry… |

Yes, adding the Hand Welder images to the forum is a great idea Quote: A United States Colonial Marine Corps hand welder from James Cameron's sci-fi sequel Aliens. Colonial marines used their welders to seal and open doors, as well as open a pipe Bishop (Lance Henriksen) had to crawl through to reach the transmitter. The hand welder is made primarily of resin, with a metal nozzle and acrylic protective screen. The screen can be moved back and forth, but the buttons are fixed. There is a hole in the base of the handle, to allow the insertion of a fuel pipe, and a metal clip on the right side. The welder has wear from production use and age, including scuffing and scratching to the paintwork. It is missing two fixed buttons on the right side.
