Wow the flash theyre using with it looks a lot like the motion tracker flash. That's a pretty good clue that the original was a flash mount. Seen em labeled as umbrella holders too. Either way, it makes sense it was camera equipment.

That is a great find, and seems like the way to go.

Do have a question...
Have you gotten to the point yet of attaching it to the main box?
I am wondering what types of modifications, and attachment methods, might need to be performed.

Not yet. The threaded short screw at the bottom can be removed. So I'm thinking of a longer threaded rod that bridges the entire box. Pairs of lock nuts on the inside to tighten. Or potentially drilling it out and re-tapping to put a bigger threaded rod in. Bigger is more secure, right?

My problem had always been keeping the arm secure to the box. While I don't want to go the Adam Savage route I can certainly understand the reasoning for his choice.
I bought these pieces (thanks for the links guys!) so I am excited to see what you do with yours.

Hi everyone I already have a fully built lamp, and have never had any problems with any movement. But my lamp used a different type bracket.
But I have just ordered a few of the ones you have all been buying. And have 2 real reflecta units and 2 genuine superswitch units sitting here. As references if needed.
My old lamp has an extra support rod fitted to it. And I even added a support tube inside my replica superswitch box to stop any compression and bowling. The photo with blue arrow again secures the handle. Hopefully this information may be of some help. If you need any other information just message me.

Hopefully the image blow will make sense.
Left is how you receive the bracket.
Carefully remove the black threaded stud. You will need pliers.
This stud will screw inside the reflecta.
Now screw the reflecta into the silver part.
Next your going to need a bit of force. And screw your longer threaded bolt into the hole. It’s tight because your forcing it into the holed section. See image.
I did not buy the set of adapters.
