The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Matt Kaufman found this file set. This is a complete unit that you can print. I suspect that as time goes on all of the beloved pops will be available to be made as 3d files. As we vet things out and try to preserve knowledge, I think we will end up with some of the most accurate props of any genre or film.

I printed most of it out and it is close but not 100% to size. It is smaller when compared to a real Kango drill. I will post pics tomorrow.

Thanks!

Greg

I printed this at 110% and it was bigger than it should be :). 105% would be pretty close with the measurements I was given.

A thought occurs to me. Like the found items list. Do we need a 3d printed items list?

We give attribution to the involved creators. We list their variants and have links to download.

We try to make it easier if anyone has restrictions on file sharing/use and list terms to use. Basically make it easier to track down who is recasting/reselling without permission or license per se. We want to be advocators for crediting creators and artists, not a source for theft without credit of any sort.

and we make it easy to collaborate and fill in the missing gaps in pieces.

Sounds good. Especially if guidance on correct dimensions can be included.

I think that could be very helpful, but we may need to distinguish between "3D print files free for download" and "3D print objects for sale by desinger".
Maybe 2 threads? or whoever makes the first post be clear to differentiate between them. Just dabbling around there are plenty of both so lets make that common knowledge.

...(in a new designated 'all encompassing 3D' thread! ...for whoever steps up. Don't just pile on here or I'll have to separate everything eventually  )

I think two lists on a main post in a thread like the real found items list. We also inform the owners that the thread exists they are linked there and make it abundantly clear, if it is for sale, it will be sold, not stolen. To that point I am not sure if a charter amendment regarding recasting/rebranding/reprinting/sharing of bought items would be appropriate if concerns are still raised.

Many forum sites have a ban list with reasons. An identify the recanters sort of deal, the people to avoid. But the other issue is sliander/libel. Such is a very fine line.
