The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I've got a NECA Vasquez figure second hand from eBay and when it arrived I noticed that it was difficult to get the figure to hold the smart gun. The reason for this seems to be that the previous owner put the forward grip and supporting arm on the wrong side of the gun so it is upside down (see photos).
I've tried getting the gun apart to correct this but can't so I'm going to have to cut it and move the grip to the proper position. Before I do this though I'd like to see some proper images of how the grip and support arm attach. Does anyone have one of these they can photograph in close up?

here ya go.
how this can happen. Did the previous owner glue the parts onto the wrong side?

Awesome, that's just what I needed.
Yes, the previous owner had stuck the grip and the vertical mounting it is on to the column underneath. With those pictures I should be able to sort it out though. Many thanks.

Maybe it is just my monitor (the shadows and white background make it hard to see what exactly is going on there) but it looks like a deep cut to remove it in the first place. The decision is so perplexing, I wonder if the previous owner was playing a practical joke the next owner? That isn't a part that could even really "come loose". He must have decided to cut it off then mount it as wrong as possible, all the while chuckling to himself as he dropped it in the post!

Well it was sold 'as seen' but it certainly looks like quite a number was done on the smart gun.
The mounting for the grip was broken so I've drilled and pinned it back into the correct place but the pivot of the supporting arm has also been glued at the wrong angle and cabling was glued into totally the wrong place. Now I've had to cut the cable and hope it's still long enough that I don't need to replace it with ribbon cable and I'm trying to gently cut the arm mounting free so I can drill and pin it as well so that it will rotate.

Looks like they stuck the front control pillar into a hole underneath that's there for the counter balance, so it ended up upside down and on the wrong side

Hey if you didn't have to sell a body part or a child to get it, it was a great deal no matter the condition. I'd love one of these things (Drake specifically) but unless they do a re-release I doubt it'll ever happen.

There was still the cylinder underneath that the hand grip was glued to the side of. I suspect the previous owner didn't know how to drill and pin broken parts so just glued the broken grip to whatever was available to use as a support.
Yes, I'm still happy with the price I paid (£124.75). Especially since it was actually for two figures. There was also the other Vasquez figure with just a pulse rifle and her pistol. I almost didn't get them though. First I had someone slowly ramping up the price to see what I had bid until they were higher and then after I bid again someone else tried sniping me at the last minute but put in the exact same amount I had so i still won.
These are the first NECA figures I have not in their original packing. All the others are still sealed up, though I may have to open the armoury pack if I want to scale up a sentry gun to life size.
