The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Can i just say, i love threads like this. I've no intention of having a Pilot suit (maybe a helmet, but that's it), but reading the researching and assembling of an outfit is fascinating stuff

I think the best thread in that regard was that in which we were identifying the parts used to create the drop ship crew helmets... How we managed to identify some of those tiny obscure parts is still beyond me.

The Dropship helmet thread predates me, but what an amazing team effort that was! Having bought two kits from Steve for Dropship helmets it is easy to forget that this information wasn't always available. Fans made this happen and I love it.

It was so much fun!
One day someone would appear with a tidbit of information and 2 days later someone had found the tiniest parts in a random Japanese robot model kit... I remember opening up my old Polaroid camera and finding 4 or 5 of the parts in there. Such a satisfying process piecing it all together and the kind of team effort that makes this place what it is :D

I am currently working on another helmet which is an XL , this ones a regular and kinda tight , that has all the cutouts and greeblies planned and I will be following Bigbisont’s video as a guide for its build - should be able to proceed with that build in a week or so . I have contacted Steven about a kit for it and am waiting on more funds to continue .... but for now this sph4 looks good I think .
As stated before I have gone with the L85A1 as the primary weapon , backed by an ivory handled 1911 in a belt holster - I have both a pulse rifle and a VP pistol but perfer these other 2 as cosplay options . The belt and suspenders set is ALICE gear , the mag pouch has had the grenade straps removed and contains 2 extra magazines for the L85 ... the med pouch has assorted medical supplies , and the holster contains a 1911 full metal airsoft with ivory grips. While hard to see in the video the holster has had the grid pattern added to it as well .....

Looks great man :D

A minor point of interest - The front sling loop on your L85 should properly be on the other side of the handguard.

Yea I tried to switch it over but it kinda wolnt fit - this airsoft was obviously designed not to have it be switchable - I am considering using a single point sling for it and using the rear mount as the single attachment point - have the sling but haven’t tried that yet - I’m open to ideas as to how to get around the sling attachment thing - anyone come across this problem before ? How did you overcome it ?

Thanks for the compliment ! I don’t think it’s looking too shabby ..... I did ditch the flash hider off the end of the barrel on the L85 , wanted a shorter more “ carbine “
Look as this character is a dropship pilot and needed a more compact primary weapon , I have a buddy milling out a replacement that will fit over the barrel and of course be orange anodized

That's odd. It must be a manufacturing error I guess, because the sling would be unusable with the loop on the right hand side.
I've really no idea why they made the loop swappable at all to be honest... The rifle can only be fired from the right shoulder. I suppose when they designed the A1 they may have had hopes of ambidextrous firing which were abandoned. But then when H&K created the A2 with its new handguard they kept the ability to swap it over. The only time you'll ever see it on the right now is for drill & ceremonial.

If you can get it swapped then the L85 sling is a nice design. It allows you to go from a two point to a single point sling by opening the fastex buckle. You can have the rifle held close to your chest but then you can quickly extend the sling and bring it into the aim by just opening the buckle.

I thought so - for a basic metal airsoft to use for a prop - I don’t think it can be beaten ... as an airsoft it isn’t so great , but for prop use ? Wonderful !!

Edit ** - can someone make me a static sticker of a counter display (. 95. ) for this ? I would need it to be 1 inch long , by 3/4 inch high - if anyone can assist I would appreciate that !

Seeing as I didn’t get out to play in it last year.

I love rocking the shotgun, but the current climate has meant it’s acceptable in fewer places.
