Well look at the mandalorian. I think with die hard fans like us, We could make great contributions just like the 501st did to that show. And I do like how they are forcing so many things to become canon again.
I am seeing a turning in some of the products hollywood is making, but, recent movements are becoming a wake up call that certain ideas are bad for business and bad for the local economies.
There is hope there. If there is a call for scripts I will gladly try my hand.
But I do agree with you the toyetic possibilities do have me very excited regardless.
The Mando is a big pile of "meh" in my opinion. Does nothing for the universe other than make things senseless (tracking devices that work perfectly to find an individual across the entire galaxy when the story needs it, ignored all the rest of the time) and wrecks established characters (Boba Fett is no longer the ruthless bounty hunter but the stand up guy who helps you out in a pinch). Most episodes are contrived and have no flow to them. And don't get me started on the desperate marketing of cutsie toys (looking at you Grow Goo!)
The 501st inclusion was just them cheaping out - how can we get 30 people in quality Storm Trooper armour to fill this scene. Hey use the 501st, they have the kit and will work for free!
As for scripts, Hollywood writes scripts one way now - with maximum box ticking and by committee. I don't hold any hope that anything will be faithful to the original movies in any way at all. Rather than making a good film that will then make money they set out to make money using whatever their focus groups (which are rarely fans) tell them.
But like I say, if it gets us new toys of the original movies, then I'm all for it
