Question for all you guys who have built an M240 Flamethrower kit.

What do you use to mount sling on?

Got a 3D printed kit from Chef's Creations which I'm currently building up, but need something to clip the sling onto.

The way Morgan13's kit worked was having the steel loop embedded into the body from the inside. He poured the mold around the metal loop so that put the weight distribution throughout the inside of the frame.

Does that 3D kit give you access to the inside portion of that area? If so I would think the safest bet is to try and do something similar with a bent/folded strip of steel.

If you don't have access to the inside, it could be dicey trying to drill in from the top of the unit. Pretty tough to make that a load baring spot that pulls up.

Hmm, you might need to open up an area (i.e. cut or saw into it) for a solid mounting point and then use two part epoxy to reconstruct the exterior. With sanding you should be able to blend it all together.

Something like this should do it i would have thought. Use a correct size rawl plug and drill bit and you would be able to hang a fair weight from your incinerator!

What was used to attach the slings on the original props? I think they used the same slings as used on PRs and motion trackers didn’t they? I’m just wondering if the real props had specific fixing points...

Here's a couple of images from a Propstore auction of one of the stunt Flamethrowers. The mounts are flat metal with a hole in them.

Nice one, Harry, thank you. Crikey that prop (presumably a stunt) looks quite rough? They built functioning ones as well didn’t they...

Yes that one is a stunt. These days most of this stuff is 'distressed' in some way; partly from use during production and partly due to age.

They did indeed - same as the Pulse Rifles. Various versions were made with slightly different functionality - this has been discussed in the DVD extras and commentary. There's one of the functional ones on Propstores website.

Sorted, bit of exhaust bracket and some work with a dremmel (OK, they're not rounded like the ones on the original prop, but they'll do).
