My youngest son expressed interest in being a Colonial Marine for Halloween, so I jumped at the chance to make some mini armour.

This is all made from plastic flower pots (thanks to BigbisonT for the tip and the inspiration as he totally did it first) and some webbing from a frame backpack.

I'd made my older son an Alien costume a few years back so it was fun to do another pint-sized costume!

Those are both totally awesome! You wouldn't happen to document the whole build somewhere step by step?

Some shots of my mini-Marine today. This was a great test drive for the armour, but next time hopefully we can find a better match for camo trousers and do the shin guards. He wants to add some graffiti so we'll do that too.

As for instructions, I just drew out the shapes based on my own armour but scaled down. It took some trimming, but the end result worked out. I'd say I paid leas than twenty for the flower pots, but almost as much in webbing clips. Those things are pricey!

love it!! I made my son armor and weapons when he was 8 too. He is now 26 and is still loving his armor. He treasures it.

Thanks Stephen210! I remember seeing images of yours and it was absolutely epic. What a treasure!

Sgt of Marines: let me see if I have a label to help identify them. They were flower pots at Lowes in the U.S. and they had a range of sizes all in a really great base green color. I believe Bigbisont had good luck with Lowes for his mini-armour as well, but with more rigid pots than I could find.
