The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

As a recently returning member,
http://forum.alienslegacy.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=18754
I thought I would start a new build thread.

This will in fact be my second full USCM build.
My original kit consisted of Men-At-Arms fiberglass armor, MAA "First Platoon" BDU's, with every other piece of the set-up, including the motion tracker and the Shoulder lamp, made from each and every of the real world found items.
Sadly, the entire set of armor and all accessories was stolen about two years ago.

I figured since I have to do it all over again I'd go even bigger, and just put in my order for a complete unpainted set of armor from a Mr. Terry English.
The most depressing part is that I am almost sure I will never find another Superswitch Alarm, as the first one was a pristine example, new in the box, but took the better part of a decade to obtain.

* If anyone has even the slightest lead on an alarm (or an HM560, which was another pain to originally find) I would be eternally grateful.

Any pics of the armor and stuff that was stolen? It would be recognizable if any of us saw it anywhere.
I love doing detective work.

Ordering a Terry English armour is nothing special anymore..., everyone have one...
Building your own one is special, like Bigbisont..., that is really impressive and special..., and looks way better than an Terry English... (I had one and I sell it.., in my opinion Schotties Armour is even better then an Terry..)
I now make my my own one..., Bigbisonts Videos where a blast and an inspiration... and at the end, u can
wear it with pride..., because u made it by yourself..., and didn’t buy it from the shelf...

And the good thing is, u safe a lot of money you can spend on other rare items... :-)

Just my 50cent...

Sorry to hear your previous gear was stolen :( Can't wait to see your build this time around. I am making a set from scratch and so will be following your build very closely. Good luck

I hear ya'. I've made more costumes than I can count over the decades. Always great to accomplish them.
ABS, Cloth, Vac-forming... no prob. Having a full on metal working space/shop and tools, is a different story.
I've been out of the hobby for a while now, so the names you mention are new to me, but I'll search around for the threads.
Even with what I've ordered, there is still plenty of room for other sources and self made pieces.

Welcome back!
There is nothing at all wrong with TE armour. If it is within your means then go for it and know you have something made by the original artist.
The vendors currently available are all 100% better than Golden Armor and 100% more trustworthy than Man At Arms.

Man those boots look like a regular size, not narrow. The narrow that I have are weird.
I went looking around and the prices are crazy right now. I could have got many authentic pairs for $50 each about three years ago.

Yeah, when I bought my first pair, years ago, I think I spent 45 bucks for a pair of 11.5 (R) , un-issued with tags.
Good luck finding 3rd pattern Vibrams' in such a size now... or really any "regular average" foot size for that matter.
These are 12 XW. Almost too wide, but will have to give it some time to see if they will be alright.
* If not, I'm going with your stretching method on a smaller pair.

Yes. Crazy prices out there. Not sure why or where such a drastic jump comes from.
The least expensive I was able to find comes from "Omaha's Surplus".
