The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

OK, I heard back from the manufacturer on the rev robotics unit. I bridged a ground wire from the servo board to the ground power input on the power module and jitter disappeared.

It now appears that I have a bad servo which I am getting replaced and the right cannon arm upper tilt servo needs to be swapped to the beefier servo.

OK beefier upper tilt servo on right arm seemed to fix sag issues. There is some noise when under slightly strained load but otherwise it is fine. I am doing burn in testing to make sure the power supply is good. But it does appear that 2ft-lbs of torque is needed for the tilt mechanism to a 35kg-cm rated servo does not have quite enough oomph to do things properly.

I will have to get back with reve robotics on a possible conflict with the elechawk rc switch as that may not be compatible with the power module of theirs.

The noise issues are minimal. with a mask on one is going to be stone deaf anyways. Plus convention noise is going to be a factor as well.

Battery tests are OK. I will need to integrate after I sort a minor LED(power module I think does not do a proper comms in conjunction with the power module) and servo issue(bad servo)

led issues sorted. Debating on redoing code to separate out left and right cannon firing sequences to c and z for left cannon laser and lights, 1 and 2 for right cannon laser and lights. laser in both cases are leds now after pointing out to me that the lasers have an inherent liability issue.

I had to redo upper tilt mechanism on right cannon. That apparently fixed other issues and resolved a binding issue.

I am using a mix of digital and analog servos and the digital servo is a high power unit. Here is a technical write up explaining some of the whys on why I had to shield things:
https://www.controleng.com/articles/shi ... ystem-emi/

Please note that the shielding concepts are mainly for bigger industrial servos and larger robotic networks, however there is a new wrinkle. Servos are getting smaller, more power hungry, and noisier.

So big world issues are coming to the micro space.

OK, I got the y axis servo issues sorted. It makes movement occasionally odd. LED issues are sorted enough. I think the micro l 0.8" leds are shot. I could replace with a red LED standard size but it would look odd.

OK, I made a complilation a video of my pred progress and such here:

I am gearing up to work on the next iteration of my costume that hopes to be a little more mechanically accurate.
