Post subject:  Help needed with helmet

Hi all, I suspect until I get my head around this build there wil be lots of questions (apologies in advance). Here is the first;

The front plate of the helmet. What does everybody use? I have just made one from pepakura but it just doesn't fit the steel M1 helmet that I am using for the lid. I don't think any messing about with this pepakura plate will work. Just wondered what others have used?

For scratch-building, I have used flower pots (Easily cut to shape, foam mat backing to give it depth) glued into place and a hand-hammered chunk of aluminum (not easy. really sucky actually, but satisfying) riveted in place.

If you just want to buy something, For your region I recommend you reach out to "Chef" at chefscreations. I've never seen any specific breakdowns advertised of individual parts on his site, but he has always been a reasonable fellow when I deal with him. I bet he has the part ready to go.

What BigBisonT said.

I got a vac formed strike plate and ear hinge from him a while back.

He will sell individual parts, if you ask him nicely.

Agreed! Chef has been awesome when I’ve asked about individual parts.

I cut the shape out of EVA foam, gym floor mat. I epoxied that to helmet while taped on realy tight. then used BONDO "high bond", it sticks a little better. i sanded a few coats of bondo until I had the shape, then sprayed silver and painted. Its realy durable and can always be altered and adjusted. This thread shows ther helmet when I redid it a while back.
