Hi all,

I've been planning to make this available for a while now but didn't get around to it. If any of you downloaded the smartgun parts 3d print files from thingiverse I put up a while back, you will know there was a really poor model of a smartgun battery included in the pack.

Now that I've had some lockdown spare time I've re-worked the original and have made it look a lot closer to what it should look like. If you have a resin printer and some patience you should be able to produce a pretty close replica of the piece.

I don't know how well an FDM machine will handle it but you might expect to lose some of the finer detail

enjoy

That is excellent timing! I'm just doing the last pieces of my gun and the battery I printed the other day I wasn't very happy with (did it in 0.2mm and really should have gone 0.1mm). I'll print off your new one in the next few days and let you know how it comes out in PLA.
Also thank you for the other parts you've done, I'm expecting to use the drum parts as is and the other bits have been useful guides for building my own parts to match my gun.

You prefer a printed version to a casting?

To be honest I prefer the proper original prop parts but i'll take whatever I can get and if I can fabricate something myself i'm happy enough to do that. I'm a big fan of 3d modelling so it's part of the fun for me.

I personally wouldn't know where to get hold of a casting although i'm sure there would be someone on the site who would be able to hook me up.

Printed it out today at 0.1mm. I made a few alterations, just sliced it in 2 down the middle and added a channel the diameter of the 1/4" jacks that I have as it suits my plans better for wiring it up internally. Came out pretty well, bit of cleaning up and she'll look a treat, thank you very much :)

Very cool!
I got resin ones and drilled them out for wiring the 1/4" headphone jacks together (it was a bit of a pig); two part 3d prints would have been soooo much easier :D

Would also be amazing to see someone make some floor palettes for neca figures. . Ive just got blender so im a long way from being able to design anything.

Hi bud, can't say I've thought about the belt tool but I could perhaps take a look when I have time.

This is my first stab at it. Any comments are welcome. I need to work out the articulation on the handle and I should print one to make sure it'll work. I'll try and put it up on thingiverse as soon as I can

Hi all, I've put up the belt tool on thingiverse

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4417006

I have uploaded it as a work in progress as I haven't had time to build and test it (doubt I will this week)

If you fancy printing it let me know if it's working for you. I think it should but sometimes you need to jiggle tolerances around to get things to fit together properly.

I've split it into a few parts and the handle and body sections are connected by a pin that should allow for articulation of the handle.

cheers

The good news is that although the print failed I can see that the quality of it is really nice. Some light sanding and paint will make it look great. The other thing is that I can use the failed print to test the handle and retention pin as the hole printed ok.

That's more like it. I hate my resin printer with a passion but it can produce a decent finish (it'd be even better if I could be bothered to sand more)

I've realised that the handle pin is too big to fit in the hole so I will need to re-jig that.

that finish is insane. What do ya know , my printer stopped reading memory cards...

do you think it's the card or the printer?

That looks amazing for a 3D print.

yeah it's pretty good but i'm not getting the results other people seem to get with these machines. I've seen some unbelievably clean prints with the machine I have but i'm getting artefacts. I'm hoping it's an experience thing and I can get better at it.

I have the Anycubic Photon-S

my card got jammed and i cracked it taking it out. i was an 8gb, my others are 64. I hear from a good source that it needs to be a smaller memory size, so Ive ordered another 8gb. Should be all good in a couple of days. cant wait to print this belt tool and chase that resin resolution.

that sucks, could you connect directly with a usb cable? Only thing i'd say about resin is that it's mega messy and the resin is nasty. I've burnt my fingers on it in the past. Gloves are compulsary

Not sure if it helps or matters, but as I at one time had dozens of the actual pop guns,
The folding handle is not quite that wide, and the downward end of the handle is just long enough and has just enough of a inside curve to snap tight around that last cylinder and lock it closed.

Hi, yep it helps. don't suppose you have any pics and/or measurements handy :)

cheers
