The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Unfortunately, my remaining pieces (and my pc) were snagged with my gear, so no personal references...
But, this photo from Worthpoint shows how they are supposed to close. Many images online show them incorrectly closed, or not at all.
It took me a short while to notice it as well, but what is intended is that just before snapping the two handles closed, it needs to be squeezed a bit, as if you were just slightly firing it. Then, snap the handles in and the tension of the barrel, trying to slide back in, holds the handles in place.

Edit:

* The more I think about it... If you closed both handles at once, they just kind of fell in place and the barrel return tension held them closed tight.
If you did one or the other first, you could get the other to actually "snap" in place (with a click sound).

Theres a ton of people here that own them. i dont have one though.
I dont know what they're worth but ill put up an interest ad and buy one and send it your way if its affordable so you can take measurements. anyone know what a real one goes for? dont wanna take measurements off someones casting.

Lever is 23.50-23.70 wide.

Lever opening holes have filleted holes.

If you want to send picts with dimensions needed, I can help you.

I have one all painted up, and have 2 more that I need swap out to single barrel.

Hey I appreciate that but I wouldn't expect you to have to do that. I think we can get close enough with the reference pics and some key measurements.

cheers

Overall yours looks great compared to the original, but here are a few tweaks.
So this little bit my finger is pointing to is shaped like a box on yours, but needs to be more pill shaped (rounded and tapering at the end).

Also, note the shape of the upper section. You have the shaft indent in when the original joins directly to the base.

Here is a shot of the smaller details on the under side. These won't show when the tool is worn, but you said you wanted to refine it.

Thanks for that, i'll try to incorporate some more of this detail into the model.

Can I ask for a couple of shots of the handle please?

can I ask for some help with the following marked dimensions please? If you can provide mm distances that would be amazing but if not I can do the inch conversions.

thanks

These are really finicky bits to measure, but hopefully they are within reason enough to be helpful.

A) 11mm
B) 19mm
C) 20mm (including the ridge not visible in this photo where the top section meets the body)
D) 6mm
E) 5mm
F) 7mm
G) 14mm
H) 19mm
I) 12mm

I think the model is a healthy percentage oversize (the floating circle below represents the measured O/D of 7mm)

i'll try and factor these measurements in later.
