The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

What was the print time for that piece Martin? Did you have to hit that resin with UV light after?
/ my print is 1/3 finished/

Removed supports but havnt cleaned up yet. I also need to experiment with different types of supports because these were about 45 min. to remove, really stuck on there. But this thing in incredible. everything fits together perfectly.

How easily did it fit together? i found the fit to be a little tight so i'm wondering about giving it a bit more room. cheers

the front barrel was pretty tight but the back was perfect. at first i had typed that the front barrel might need to be a little more narrrow but once i shaved around the edges of both pieces with a blade it went in.
its definitly snug but its enough friction to hold it in place. otherwise it might require glue.
I could definitely see taking off the smallest amount of diameter on the front barrel though.

i haven't had any time to finish this but as it is, it looks amazing. I kinda gave it some dings and marks because I was in a rush to get it all put together. I cant wait to sand a couple of small spots and prime/paint it.

not a bad print. Did you print 0.1 or 0.2?

FYI i updated the front end and reduced the diameter a smidge. It should be a similar fit to the back now.

cheers

.12mm is what I used. the highest quality I can get with my current setup, I think.
I'm slicing in CURA and using an Ender 3. Excellent, I'm gonna do a print of the new one.

Finally got around to printing the handle. It's without a doubt the best print of all of the pieces i have printed. I am happy that this is all mechanically sound so i have taken the work in progress label off the item in thingiverse. I'll try and update the smartgun battery next. and then who knows i guess i should clean it up and paint it.

This 3D printed stuff is awesome. I can only hope in the future that the consumer ones will easily be able to print in metal and resin. That would be awesome!

The metal ones are well out of my price range but printers such as the elgoo mars and anycubic photon are very accessible for enthusiasts. I'd love to get hold of a large form resin printer like the peopoly phenom but it's not easy in the UK.

Yeah. I think one day with the advancement in technology they'll be cheaper. A decade ago this stuff didn't even exist for consumers so I wonder where it'll be in the future!

I have updated the smartgun battery with the new model and have added a few options for using real jack plugs. Enjoy

Hey, I just noticed from the link in the grenade box font thread that Hollywood Relics also sold a screen used "smartgun battery".

Don't think these pics were posted anywhere else, so may as well drop em here.
Interesting color stuff. I know Harry's appeared brown bess as well, but the red base material is new, right? Wonder if it was cast in red or if there is a red variant of the toy out there.

Tip of the jack on one side is broken as well. Wonder if it was even a real metal jack.

I thought that looked familiar - here's some history on it from deep within the old HH archives!
